The Pineer in Mdern Chinese Gegraphy Xu Xiake (1587-1641), wh lived in the Ming Dynasty, was a famus gegrapher, traveller, and writer.
Xu travelled acrss China fr 30 years, cvering many f the present China's cities and prvinces, such as Beijing, Henan, Guangdng and Yunnan. He travelled mstly n ft, climbing 72 muntains and 15 hills, crssing 10 caves, 38 wells and 25 rivers.
Xu was a pineer in mdern Chinese gegraphy. He wrte many travel diaries n famus muntains and ther places, with a ttal f 600.000 Chinese characters.
After his death, these diaries were cmpiled int a bk called The Travel Diaries f Xu Xiake. It is the first knwn recrd f mdern Chinese gegraphy.
