Read the conversations below,underline the tag questions and their answers,and then summarize how tag questions are formed.
Conversation 1:
A:Zhu Ting is a volleyball star,isn’t she?
B:Yes,she is.I really admire her.
Conversation 2:
A:Su yiming won the gold medal in the men’s Big Air in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics,didn’t he?
B:Yes,he did.He is the youngest athlete to win the gold medal in the Winter Olympic Games of our country.
Conversation 3:
A:Liu Xiang didn’t perform well in the 2008 Beijing Olympics,did he?
B:No,he didn’t.It was a pity for him.But he is still a good athlete.
Conversation 4:
A:You seldom go to a gym,do you?
B:No,I don’t.
Part Ⅱ Learn the functions of tag questions
Activity 1 Read the conversations once again and think about what functions they have.
Conversation 1:
A:Yao Ming is a basketball star,isn’t he?
B:Yes,he is.I really admire him.
Conversation 2:
A:Liu Xiang won the gold medal in the men’s 110-metre hurdles at the 2004 Olympics,didn’t he?
B:Yes,he did.He is the first Asian to win the gold medal in the men’s hurdles.
Conversation 3:
A:Li Ning didn’t perform well in the 1988 Seoul Olympics,did he?
B:No,he didn’t.It was a pity for him.But he is still a good gymnast.
Conversation 4:
A:You seldom go to a gym,do you?
B:No,I don’t.
Activity 2 Look at the following sentences and find out the function of tag questions.
(1)Join us in running,will you?
(2)Come and play jianzi with us,will you?
(3)Don’t sit at the table for a long time,will you?
Part Ⅲ Make a summary
特殊用法和结构
(1)若陈述部分含有hardly,never,few,nothing,little,nobody,seldom等否定词或半否定词,其疑问部分要用____________式;
He has few friends here,has he? 他在这儿几乎没朋友,是吗?
She said nothing,did she? 她什么也没说,是不是?
(2)若陈述部分含有带否定前缀的词,疑问部分仍用____________式;
It is unfair,isn’t it? 这不公平,不是吗?
(3)当陈述部分为there be句型时,疑问部分仍用____________作“主语”;
There was nothing in the room,was there?房间里什么也没有,是吗?
(4)当陈述部分的主语是 something,anything,nothing,everything等复合不定代词时,其反意疑问句的主语要用____________。
Everything is ready,isn’t it? 一切都准备好了吗?
(5)当陈述部分是I think/suppose/believe that...结构时,其反意疑问句须与从句的主、谓语保持一致;主句的主语若非第一人称,则反意疑问句与主句的主语相一致。
I don’t think he will come,will he?我认为他不会来,是吗?
He thinks that she will come,doesn’t he?他认为她会来,不是吗?
(6)在通常情况下,当陈述部分含有情态动词时,疑问部分应用与前面同样的情态动词。
He can speak English,can’t he?他会说英语,是吗?
We shouldn’t go,should we? 我们不应该去,对不对?
(7)若陈述部分为祈使句,疑问部分通常用____________。
Please help us,will you? 请帮帮我们,好吗?
Come with us,will you? 同我们一起去,好吗?
Don’t forget to post the letter,will you? 请别忘了寄信。
(8)当祈使句为Let’s...时,疑问部分总是用 shall we。
当祈使句为Let us...时,表示请求,疑问部分用will you。
Let’s go there together,shall we? 我们一起去,好吗?
Let us know your address,will you? 请把你的地址告诉我们,好吗?
