Unit 3 Reading and Thinking公开课教案
Teaching aims:
1. Instruct students to talk about how to use the Internet appropriately.
2. Encourage students to combine their own life experience of using the Internet and link the text with their real life.
3. Stimulate students to enhance reading skills by using the mind map.
4. Encourage students to contribute their own strength, help the people around to explore the virtual world online, and experience the magic of the Internet.
Teaching key points:
- Enable students to analyze the main idea of each paragraph to deepen the understanding of the text.
- Guide students to talk about how the Internet has changed people’s lives and how to use the Internet appropriately.
Teaching difficult points:
1. Enable the Students to talk about the related topic.
2. Guide the Students to summarize the main idea of each paragraph as well as the main idea of the text.
3. Help Students learn some basic reading skills, such as prediction, summary and so on.

- Talk about the Internet vocabulary.
- Have you ever experienced anything while surfing the Internet? Share it with your partner.

Activity 1 Prediction
Ask students to read the title of the text“Stronger together:How We Have Been Changed by the Internet”.Try to answer the following questions.
1.What do you think the text will say?
2.How do you think the writer feels about the topic?
Read headlines
Headlines usually include only key ideas or information from the text.They often do not follow strict grammar rules,because writers use as few words as possible to catch the attention of the readers.
Suggested answers:
1.The text will say that we have been changed a lot by the Internet and that it has brought us together.
2.I think the writer feels positive about this topic because he/she says “stronger together”.
Activity 2 Reading for main ideas
Read the text quickly and match the main ideas with the paragraphs.
Para.1 Jan decided to start an IT club to teach older people how to use computers and the Internet.
Para.2 Jan has started taking online classes to learn more about how to use the Internet to make society better.
Para.3 People’s lives have been changed by online communities and social networks.
