Teaching contents
Ⅰ. Pre-task preparations
CAI shows a short video about musical instruments and let the students enjoy it.
T: What is this video about?
S1: Music.
S2: It is about music.
T: Do you have music class today?
S3: Yes.
T: What do you do in music class?
S4: We sing songs.
T: I like music. What about you? Why do you like music?
S5: …
T: A lot of you like music. So can you complete this sentence?
(CAI ) Music is…
Ⅱ. While-task procedure
1. Listen and find
T: You saw some musical instruments just now. I have some musical instruments to show you, too. Do you want to see?
Ss: Yes!
(CAI) T: Great! Oh! Which one do you want to listen to first?
Ss choose the sound and try to find out which musical instrument makes the sound.
Teach the words: drum, harp, piano
2. Ask and answer
( CAI ) shows pictures and help the students answer the questions
e.g. a.What’s he playing?
b. What can they play?
c. What’s she doing?
(CAI) Shows Lang Lang and introduce him to the Ss.
3. Listen and say
( CAI ) Plays the sound of a musical instrument and get the students to identify what musical instrument makes the sound.
e.g. T: It’s the sound of…(CAI shows the answer) violin!
Same methods with guitar and xylophone.
4. Read or clap
(CAI) Shows the picture and the word. If they match, Ss should read out the word. It they don’t match, Ss clap twice.
Ss: Drum. Drum. ╳ ╳ …
Do it twice.
5. Ask and answer
Answer T’s questions according to the pictures showed on the screen.
e.g. a. What can she play?
b. What can he play?
c. What’s he playing?
(CAI) Shows Lv Siqing and introduce him to the Ss.
6. Ask and answer
(CAI) Shows pictures and help the students learn the new words by asking and answering.
7. Fill in the blanks
(Fill with “the” or “/”)
