The region(地区) enjoys the name 'land of abundance' not only for its abundant grain products but also for its richness of stunning landscapes.Lovely pandas, picturesque landscapes, the Giant Buddha, and Tibetan villages are sparkling diamonds on the crown of Chengdu. With reportedly the highest density of restaurants and tea houses of any city in the world, Chengdu is the first city in Asia to be named as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy(联合国教科文组织美食之都).(2) Xi’anAs the ancient capital of 13 imperial dynasties, Xi'an’s beauty lies in its unparalleled(绝无仅有的) historical and cultural atmosphere. Visiting the Shaanxi History Museum is a must for your tour of Xi’an. The highlights of the museum are the three pits(坑) where the warriors(战士) and the Bronze Chariots(战车)are on display. Apart from the museum, walking or cycling on the Ancient City Wall is what you can’t afford to miss. The Wall has been guarding the inner city since the 13th century. The walls, gates, and watchtowers form one of the oldest and most complete city defenses(防御) in China.(As for the Terracotta Army, you may refer to Page 30 in your textbook.)(3) Jiuzhai Valley National ParkJiuzhai Valley is a national park located in the Min Shan mountain range, Northern Sichuan in South Western China. Best known for its picturesque fairyland, featuring sparkling lakes, spectacular waterfalls, and colorful leaves, it is one of China’s most treasured scenic sites.More than just spectacular scenery, Jiuzhai Valley National Park is home to over 220 bird species as well as a number of endangered plant and animal species, including the giant panda, Sichuan golden monkey, and numerous orchids(兰花).Due to its natural beauty and unique wildlife, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site(联合国教科文组织世界遗产) in 1992.(4)Peking UniversityPeking University is regarded as one of the best universities in China and attracts talented students from around the country and the world.Its current campus features a mixture of traditional Chinese architecture and modern facilities(设施) surrounded by gardens and waterways.
