Sam was a fifteen-year-old boy living with his little sister, Julie. Their parents had passed away long ago. Sam had taken care of Julie by himself.

One day, Sam woke up at three in the morning as usual. When Julie was sleeping alone, Sam left their little house to send newspapers. When he found an old man sitting in front of their house, Sam was so surprised that he stopped to look at him closely. It was an icy morning and he looked very cold.

The poor old man didn't have anything to cover himself with. Sam went into his house to get the old man a blanket. However, there were no extra blankets. So Sam thought hard and took his father's coat. It was the only thing of his father's that he had left. Sam wrote a short note: “Sir, I found you sleeping in front of my house. This is my father's coat. I hope it fits you well.” He put the note in a pocket of the coat, and covered the old man with the coat. Then he went to work. When he came back three hours later, both the man and the coat were gone. Sam thought that it was the best thing he could have done with his father's coat.

That afternoon, Sam hurried home after school because Julie was at home alone. However, Julie and the old man were standing in front of the house, and Julie shouted to Sam, “Brother! He's our grandfather!”

As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger as well as success.

Scientists have found out that the radiation（辐射）is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of the radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The harm of the radiation won’t be found until their children even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine may work a little, but no really effective medicine has been found so far.

Space rubbish is also thought to be a great danger to spacemen. It’s reported that there were 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites, 10% are spaceships, and the rest are space rubbish. An explosion（爆炸）in space in 1999 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments, each at least 4mm in size. A small piece of these even knocked a spaceship window and caused some damage(损坏).

Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working to deal with space rubbish. Although space is really dangerous, it interests many people on the earth. Have you heard of a dog museum? In the world, there is a real dog museum called the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog.

Inside the museum is a library with around 15, 000 books from the American Kennel Club collection. Readers will find pictures and information about different kinds of dogs. Visitors to the museum will also find pictures of royal dogs like Lincoln’s. They will find dog fossils (化石) and other things about 30 million years ago. People can even try to find out which kind of dog they look like most and “train” a virtual (虚拟的) dog.

“Although there will not be real dogs except for special events, the museum hopes to give visitors an understanding of the history of dogs and how they came to be in such different forms,” said Alan Fausel, the museum’s director.
