教 学 内 容 与 过 程 | Step1 Warming up 学生观看Video Time部分的视频,通过视觉冲击和纪录片播音员的解说,了解海啸的成因及海啸所能造成的巨大伤害,为接下来的文本阅读做好准备。教师提问: What is a tsunami? What causes it? Will it cause great damage to human beings? Watch the video Tsunami: Killer Wave and find the answers to the questions. Step2 Group work (1)Divide the class up into groups of three and assign one paragraph of the reading to each individual student. (2)Students first scan the paragraph and then write down what the paragraph is about. Then they read the paragraph closely and add to that summary. (3)Then they take turns telling their group what each paragraph is about.
Step3 Before-writing (1)获取文本要点信息。学生阅读新闻报道,回答活动1中的问题。教师核对答案,并通过设问引导学生回顾Listening and Speaking新闻播报中总结出的报道要点,让学生进一步关注新闻报道的要点。教师提问: What are the three questions about? We listened to four pieces of news about natural disasters in Listening and Speaking. Do you remember what main points should be included in a news report? Are they included in the three questions you have just answered? Are they included in the passage? 教学提示:复现有助于加深记忆。教师要利用不同阶段的教学内容之间的关联性,经常有意识地增加语言知识的复现,帮助学生以旧带新、巩固所学、构建知识体系。 (2)分析、体会文本构成与语言特点。教师通过以下问题引导学生关注新闻报道中图片的作用,并体会其中准确、生动的新闻语言的特点。 What can you see in the picture above the news report? Is it necessary to have the picture? Why or why not? Why does the author write so many numbers in the report? What makes the news report more believable?
Step4 While-writing 摘要编写 (1)研习所给摘要范本。学生按照活动2的要求与文字说明,完成任务。教师核对答案,并引导学生分析所给的摘要范本,鼓励学生用自己的语言进行二次创作: On 26 December, 2004, a tsunami hit Southeast Asia, killing more than 6,500 tourists, fishermen, and other locals. A great many people are still missing and the number of deaths, is likely to increase. The damage caused by the disaster is making it hard for the rescue workers to provide the necessary help. 教师追问: What do you think of the summary in our book? Can you express it in your own words? 教学提示:摘要的语言简明扼要且要点齐全,原报道中的大量数字、被采访者的话语均被省去。在学习撰写摘要时,教师要引导学生尽可能用自己的语言进行表达,不要照抄文本中的原句。 (2)学生按照活动3的步骤完成摘要的写作初稿。 (3)学生交换初稿,根据步骤3提供的评价清单,相互修改,作出评价。最后教师在学生互评的基础上点评。
Step5 Post-writing 将练习册中的阅读文章“The Story of an Eyewitness”布置为课后阅读任务,并要求学生写出摘要。对于学有余力的学生,教师让他们在课后通过阅读英文报刊或浏览网站,查找与自然灾害相关的最新报道,并写出摘要。教师将学生的摘要在班内进行展示和交流,也可以让学生将摘要展示在班级多媒体交流平台上。
Step5 Homework 选读练习册Expanding Your World中的语篇“China to the Rescue”。组织学生阅读当天的英文报纸,让学生选择其中的新闻报道并编写摘要。
