I believe that we can use social media for a lot of great things and it’s important especially for business owners like me. Ever since I started my calligraphy business two years ago, I’ve never spent a day without going on social media, especially a kind of social app on my phone, on which I promoted my products and services and got in contact with possible customers.
Later I found it got in the way of more important things. I hate to say I was hooked by it, but I was. Every time I turned on my phone, I would dive into it. For a long time, I had been I ignoring other parts of my life, like my family, my friends and my happiness. One day, I was thinking that a break should have happened long before to me.
Then I decided to remove the app off my phone for a month and only use that on my computer to keep track of my business. I wanted a clean break to reflect and plan for the future.
I had believed that if I spent less time on the platform, I would miss out much. Actually, I was so wrong. During this month off, I realized there was much to enjoy in life. I found more time to enjoy my hobbies and contacted my good friends that I had lost touch with, I was refilled with energy in all aspects of my life.
This one month off the app on the phone was healthy for me. If it were not for my business, I would like not to have it on my phone. I downloaded the app again on my phone, but only used it to post my own content. I didn’t intend to paint social media in a negative light, but now I just don’t think the way I was using it was healthy. It’s difficult to find balance, but I’m going to try to do it anyway. I’m going back, but it’s going to be different.

You may have already seen them in some restaurants around the world; robots. They are about the size of a child. They can welcome people and lead them to their tables. They can deliver food and drinks and bring dirty dishes back to the kitchen.
Many people think robot waiters are the answer to worker shortages. Sales of robots have been growing in recent years. There are tens of thousands of them now moving through eating places worldwide.
But others say robot waiters still have a long way to go before they can replace humans. They cannot take orders. And they cannot walk up steps to different areas of a restaurant.
Still the use of robots is growing. In Madison Heights, Michigan, Li Zhai was having trouble finding workers for his restaurant Noodle Topia in the summer of 2021. So, he bought a robot from Pudu Robotics. The robot was so successful that he added two more; now, one robot leads diners to their seats while another delivers food to tables. And his employees load dirty dishes onto the third robot to bring them back to the kitchen.
Zhai said he now needs three people to do the same work that five or six people used to do. And they save him money. A robot costs around $15,000, he said, but a person costs him $5,000 to $6,000 per month. Zhai noted that the robots give his human servers more time to spend with diners, which increases tips. And diners often post videos of the robots on social media, which leads to more visits. “Besides saving labor, the robots benefit business,” he said.
But not all restaurants have had success with robots. Chili’s introduced a robot server in 2020. The restaurant company expanded the test to 61 U.S. restaurants before suddenly stopping last August. Chili’s found that the robot moved too slowly and got in the way of human servers. And 58 percent of guests surveyed said robots did not improve their overall experience.
28. What is Li Zhai’s third robot used to do?
A. Lead diners to their seats. B. Deliver food to tables.
C. Take orders from customers. D. Carry away dirty dishes.
29. What do Li Zhai’s words mainly tell us in Paragraph 5?
A. The popularity of robots. B. The low prices of robots.
C. The advantages of using robots. D. The impression of robots on people.
30. Why did Chili’s give up robot servers?
A. They broke down easily.
B. They didn’t work well enough.
C. They often made big mistakes.
D. They couldn’t understand customers’ demand.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. Are Robot Waiters the Future?
B. Will Human Servers Lose Jobs?
C. Robots Will Never Replace Humans
D. Robot Services Are Better Than Humans

Thirteen-year-old Kaylee has a lot of friends—532, actually, if you count up her online friends. And she spends a lot of time with them.
But is it possible that Kaylee’s online friendships could be making her lonely? That’s what some experts believe. Connecting online is a great way to stay in touch, they say. However, some experts worry that many kids are so busy connecting online that they might be missing out on true friendships.
Could this be true? During your parents’ childhoods, connecting with friends usually meant spending time with them in the flesh. Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones. When friends missed each other, they picked up the telephone. Friends might even write letters to each other.
Today, most communication takes place online. A typical teen sends 2,000 texts a month and spends more than 44 hours per week in front of a screen. Much of this time is spent on social media platforms (平台).
In fact, in many ways, online communication can make friendships stronger, “There’s definitely a positive influence. Kids can stay in constant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other,” says Katie Davis, co-author of The App Generation.
Other experts, however, warn that too much online communication can get in the way of forming deep friendships. “If we are constantly checking in with our virtual words, we will have little time for our real-world friendships.” says Larry Rosen, a professor at California State University. Rosen also worries that today’s kids might mistake the "friends" on the social media for true friends in life. However, in tough times, you don’t need someone to like your picture or share your blogs. You need someone who will keep your secrets and hold your hand. You would like to talk face to face.
32. What is the function of paragraph 1?
A. To introduce the main idea of the passage.
B. To tell us how to make friends.
C. To lead in a discussion about making friends online.
D. To encourage online friendship.
33. What does the underlined part “in the flesh” mean in Paragraph 3?
A. In person. B. In advance.
C. In any case. D. In full measure.
34. What is Katie’s attitude towards online communication?
A. He is anxious about the consequence.
B. He supports online communication.
C. He objects to online communication.
D. He doesn’t concerned about online communication.
35. What view does Rosen hold?
A. It’s wise to turn to friends online.
B. It’s easier to develop friendships in reality.
C. Social media help people stay closely connected.
D. Teenagers need focus on real-world friendships.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

It could be time to admit that you have a habit of putting off your tasks because of you wasting much time on the Internet. If you are ready to reduce the time you spend on it, it may seem challenging. 36
Monitor(监控) your Internet usage time. To break that habit, learn how to manage the time you spend online. Monitor how long it takes you to do each task and record exactly what you did. 37 You’d be surprised at how much time you actually spend on necessary instead of unnecessary online activities.
38 While it may feel strange to use technology to stop you from using technology, this is where we are today. To increase your productivity while you are online, use apps that block (阻挡) your go-to sites. This will lessen the desire to jump over to these sites if the task at hand is challenging.
When working, avoid using your phone. Due to smart phones, it is now very easy to access(使用) the Internet. You have to stop wasting time online. Put away your phone when you are working or studying. So you are unable to see or hear any signals when they come up. 39 So you are unable to check your phone when it is out of sight.
Seek professional help. 40 If you can’t seem to stick to your own boundaries and you are spending more time online than you are with real people, it may be time to seek professional help. Recently, Internet addiction has become a cause for concern in clinical psychiatry (临床精神病学).

Sometimes boys and girls find 56 really hard to properly deal with the relationship with people of the opposite sex. If you have problems of this kind, here are some “dos and don’ts” for you to follow.
Keep a normal and healthy state of mind
Our schools and classes are made up of boys and girls. It is very natural for boys and girls to make friends with each other. We should make 57 many friends as possible. We should keep in contact with the other sex in public instead of in secret.
Don’t be too nervous or too shy
If you are a shy person, you can also find a way out. First of all, you can make friends with the students 58 have the same interest and hobby as you.
As both of you have much in common, you may have much 59 (talk) about. If you keep doing like that, little by little, you will 60 (glad) find you are also as free to express 61 (you) as others.
Don’t fall into early love
The boys and girls at an adolescence(青春期) are rich 62 feeling. They are easy to regard the friendship as a sign of love and fall in love with each other 63 an early age. In my opinion, early love is a green apple that can’t be 64 (eat). An apple won’t taste sweet until it is full ripe. Boys and girls at middle school are 65 young to carry the heavy duty of love. Do keep out of early love.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was a child, we lived next door to the Schonfield Home. People who got too old to take care of themselves lived there. I was a regular visitor and volunteer there. I enjoyed spending time with the caring and responsible workers and the old people who always seemed happy to see me.
One day, a very old lady named Mrs. Kurtz moved to the Schonfield Home. She seemed sad all the time. For days, I had never seen her smile or laugh like the other old people. And no one ever came to visit her. My parents learned that she had no family or friends.
Weeks after Mrs. Kurtz moved into the Schonfield Home, I was visiting the home again. And I saw her sitting alone, looking unusually upset. I asked one of the other old people, Mrs. Smith, why Mrs. Kurtz was more depressed than usual. Mrs. Smith explained to me that Mrs. Kurtz had turned eighty-nine, and that she was upset to be celebrating another birthday all alone without any cards or gifts. She truly believed there was no one in the world who loved her.
This moved me deeply, and I started to create a plan in my mind. I ran home and raced to my room. I took out my piggy bank that I always valued. And I poured out all the money that I had received on birthdays and other special occasions. I had been saving money for a new bike. Although the money wasn’t enough to buy a bike, it was enough for what I wanted to do then.
I raced down the stairs. My mother was cleaning the house. I walked to her and explained what I was about to do, and she smiled at me proudly. She planted a kiss on my cheek and said, “I must be the luckiest mother in the world to have such a caring daughter.”
Paragraph 1:
My mother stopped what she was doing and we went to a gift shop together._____________

写作
第一节
One possible version:
Hi Worried,
I’m sorry to know that you’re having such a bad time at the moment. The truth is that everyone will have one of those periods when things seem to be going wrong. I quite understand how you are feeling now and there is no need to worry about it so much. The important thing is to learn to refuse your deskmate. Here are two useful tips.
First of all, you could tell your deskmate of the bad consequences. After all, copying homework does not mean that she/he has really mastered what she/he has learned. Second, you can let him/her know that if he/she doesn't understand something, you are more than happy to help him/her solve it.
I hope you’ll soon become calmer and better.
Yours,
Cynthia

M: I can’t say I have. But when I was a kid, I would help my mother feed pigs every

you’re interested in it?

working in a zoo is interesting and it can help me to achieve my dream.

teach us how to make a cake.
M: Well, actually I’ve never been on TV before. It seems that standing in front of the camera
is much more difficult than doing it in front of hundreds of people.
W: Ha, ha! Don't worry, David. Before you start to make the cake, l think the audience will
be interested in knowing more about you. Can I ask you some questions?
M: Yes, of course.
W: How long have you been working as a cook?
M: Um, more than 20 years. I first worked in a French restaurant and then in a five-star hotel.
I'm working in a small upstairs café now because I can talk to my customers freely.
W: Have you ever thought about opening your own restaurant?
M: No, but I’ve always dreamed of opening up a cooking school.
W: I hope your dream will come true. Today we're going to make a chocolate cake, right?
Let's get started, shall we?
M: Sure!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the opening of our new university museum which has taken two years to build. A formal celebration party will be held tomorrow. This museum has a wide variety of collections. All created by our students.
First I'd like to thank all the parents for the support. You've raised such great children, and we're honored to have them at school. It has been a great pleasure to help them realize their dreams. I'd also like to thank all the great teachers in our wonderful art department, of course. None of these would have been possible without all of your hard work. You're truly encouraging to all of us. But our students are the ones I'd like to thank most of all. You went above and beyond, working tirelessly in order to share your talent through the beautiful works. I'm very excited to see all of your paintings and drawings. But before we go in, let's express our thanks to our excellent students again.
