Have you ever been angry at someone when you were very hungry? If so, you’ve experienced “hangry(饿怒症)” —some people get angry easily as they are hungry. The reason for this lies in what happens inside your body when it needs food.
Everything you eat would be changed into different kinds of nutrients(营养物质) in your body. As time passes after your last meal, these nutrients in your blood drop. Also, your blood glucose(血糖)drops.
Unlike other parts in your body, your brain totally depends on blood glucose to do its job. You’ve probably already noticed that simple things can become difficult when you’re hungry and your blood glucose levels drop. You may find it hard to pay attention. For example, you may make silly mistakes in your study and homework. You might also have noticed that you can’t even speak clearly when you’re too hungry.
Another thing that happens when you’re hungry is behaving impolitely and can’t control yourself, such as snapping at others. You may still be too angry to control yourself when you are staying with the people you are most relaxed with. That’s why you may find yourself being impatient with your parents or friends.
So, what should we do to avoid being hangry? The easiest way is to eat something before you get too hungry. The final way is to suggest that difficult situations should be dealt with after a meal, not before.
24.What do the underlined words “snapping at” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
    A.Shouting at. B.Looking at. C.Laughing at. D.Pointing at.
25.What is the relationship between the nutrients in your blood and blood glucose?
    A. B. C. D.
26.Which is one of the ways to deal with hangry?
A.To avoid eating any food when you’re hungry. B.To deal with difficult situations after meals.
C.To stay with people you are most relaxed with. D.You can always have a full stomach.

Fiona McIntyre is a taxi driver in London. She tells us about her work and some of her experiences.
    Q: When did you start?
I’ve been a taxi driver for about five years. Before that I was a bus driver in London, and I enjoyed it, but I wanted more freedom so I changed and started driving my taxi.
Q: Have you ever had any famous passengers?
Oh yes, I’ve had lots of famous people. About a year ago, a really famous actor got in my taxi. I took him to the airport. There was a lot of traffic jams, so he missed his plane and failed to meet his fans. It wasn’t my fault but when he got out of the taxi, he shouted at me angrily! I said to him, “Next time, take a bus!”
Q: Have passengers ever left anything in your taxi?
Oh, yes! People have left all kinds of things—umbrellas, hats, mobile phones, of course, even a dog once. Years ago, a woman left a pair of shoes on the seat.
And people have asked me to do some strange jobs. Once a doctor stopped me outside a hospital and asked me to take a skeleton(尸骨) to another hospital. Professors usually use skeletons to teach medical students, you know. And I did. But I asked him to pay first—the skeleton couldn’t pay, after all!
Q: What do you think is the worst part of your job?
Good question. I’ve always enjoyed being a taxi driver and I don’t want to change. But of course, sometimes, it’s not great. I don’t like driving around without a passenger, but it’s better than just waiting at the airport or at a railway station. I think that’s the worst part—waiting.
27.Fiona McIntyre thinks being a taxi driver is _______ than being a bus driver.
    A.happier B.freer C.easier D.busier
28.Why did the famous actor miss his plane?
A.Because Fiona didn’t drive well. B.Because Fiona wasn’t very polite.
C.Because there were too many fans. D.Because there was too much traffic.
29.Passengers left the following things except _______ on Fiona’s taxi.
    A.notebooks B.mobile phones C.hats D.umbrellas
30.What does the underlined word “him” in Fiona’s answer to the third question refer to?
    A.The professor. B.The skeleton. C.The doctor. D.The student.

Most people are surprised when they see how much CO₂ their activities create. Then they begin to think about changing their daily habits to reduce their carbon footprints. For example, they can walk instead of using a car.
