On a school trip to New York, our school had us wear name tags(牌) with our school name on it. Since all the attractions we visited were popular with school groups, the tags let the teachers know we should be with our group. If any of us separated from the group, teachers would quickly call us back.
Some students had tried to hide or throw away their name tags to avoid this, so our head teacher—a very strict lady—said that anyone found without the name tag would have to spend the rest of the trip staying with her at all times and then have a month's worth of lockdown(禁闭) when we got back.
While we were all on a ferry(渡船), we were allowed to go around. While playing with friends, I didn't realize it was my name tag until it was too far to reach. I started to freak out at once. I had never got into trouble at school before or had even a single punishment, and I would possibly face a month's worth of them! After thinking for a moment, I finally decided to just tell the head teacher what had happened.
I went to the head teacher and explained very nervously to her. Instead of shouting at me, she took out another name tag and handed it to me. She said, “I have prepared several more name tags in case something unexpected happens. ” Then she smiled at me, “Did you think you would get lockdown? Don't worry, and that's just for the troublemakers in order to stop them losing it on purpose. I believe you're a good kid. Don't be worried about this. But be careful later. ” When I heard these words, tears came to my eyes. What a kind teacher she is!
1. Why did the school ask the students to wear name tags?
A. To avoid being separated. B. To visit the attractions freely.
C. To make them popular. D. To attract the classmates' eyes.
2. What does the underlined phrase “freak out” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Be happy. B. Be anxious. C. Be silent. D. Be excited.
3. Why didn't the head teacher punish the writer?
A. She knew he was not a troublemaker. B. She disliked him very much.
C. She was unfair in fact. D. She thought he was the best kid.
4. How did the writer feel about the head teacher?
A. Strict but impolite. B. Brave but unfriendly.
C. Strict and patient. D. Brave and honest.

Most 20-year-olds are still trying to find out what they want to do in life. Not Boyan Slat. Ever since he was 16, the Dutch teenager has had one job—to clean up the trillions(万亿) of pieces of plastic that are polluting our oceans and killing valuable animals.
Slat first experienced ocean garbage during a diving vacation in Greece. The teenager was surprised to see that there was more plastic on the beaches than fishes in the sea. Upon completing high school, he started to follow his dream of becoming an engineer. However, he could never forget the images of the plastic rubbish.
So in 2013, Slat dropped out of college and founded the Ocean Cleanup Foundation. Its task was to create an environmentally friendly way to remove the plastic pollution from oceans, while increasing awareness(意识) by communicating this process greatly.
Called the “Ocean Cleanup Project”, it did not need chasing after every piece of floating plastic. Instead, it gave more attention on the five “garbage” patches(五大垃圾带) that have been gathered in specific areas.
By using a system of floating fences that will collect the plastic brought in by the ocean currents(洋流), similar to how the waves bring garbage to shore, the collected rubbish will be moved to a storage area. Every 45 days or so, a ship will be sent to get back the collected garbage and bring it ashore. Since the system doesn't require nets, there is no chance of harming wildlife in the process. As for the collected plastic? It will be recycled into oil, which can be sold to help balance some of the costs connected with the plan.
5. When was Slat shocked by ocean garbage?
A. When he saw some images of plastic.
B. When he had a diving trip in Greece.
C. When he dropped out of high school.
D. When he played on the beach in Holland.
6. What did the “Ocean Cleanup Project” aim to do to clean the oceans?
A. Pick up every piece of floating plastic. B. Clean beaches around the world.
C. Fight the five garbage patches. D. Collect garbage both on land and at sea.
7. What does the last paragraph mainly tell us?
A. How Slat's project works out.
B. How much plastic is taken away.
C. If collecting garbage harms wildlife.
D. How the collected plastic will be dealt with.
8. What is the best title for the text?
A. Never Too Young to Have a Big Dream B. Easier Said than Done
C. Nothing Is Impossible to a Willing Mind D. Every Trade Has Its Master
