A machine that takes sweat-laden(浸满汗水的) clothes and turns the sweat into drinking water is in use in Sweden. The machine makes the clothes turn around and around quickly, heats them to remove the sweat, and then passes the steam through a kind of special material to make purified(净化的) water.
The device was built for the United Nations' child-focused charity UNICEF to promote a campaign highlighting the fact that 780 million people in the world lack access to clean water.
The machine was designed and built by the engineer Andreas Hammar. He said the key part of the sweat machine was a new water purification part developed by a company named HVR.
“It uses a technique called membrane distillation(膜蒸馏), ” he told the BBC. “We use a special kind of material that only lets steam go through but keeps bacteria, salts, clothing fibers and other things out. It has something similar to the International Space Station, but our machine is cheaper to build. The amount of water it produces depends on how sweaty the person is, but one person's T-shirt typically produces 10 ml, about a mouthful. ”
The device has been put on show at the Gothia Cup—the world's largest international youth football tournament. Mattias Ronge, chief executive of Stockholm-based advertising agency Deportivo, said the machine had helped raise awareness of UNICEF, but in reality had its limitations.
“People haven't produced as much sweat as we hoped—right now the weather in Gothenburg is lousy, ” Mattias Ronge said. “So we've equipped the machine with exercise bikes and volunteers are cycling like crazy. Even so, the demand for sweat is greater than the supply. And the machine will never be produced in large numbers, since there are better solutions out there such as water purifying pills. ”
4. Which of the following is the disadvantage of the sweat machine?
A. It takes too long for the machine to produce water.
B. It costs a large amount of money to build the machine.
C. The amount of water the machine produces is rather limited.
D. The water processed by the machine is not clean enough.
5. Why is UNICEF mentioned in the passage?
A. To show how the sweat machine works.
B. To tell us who invented the sweat machine.
C. To show the importance of the United Nations.
D. To explain why the sweat machine was invented.
6. What's the key part of the sweat machine?
A. A special material. B. A water purification part.
C. Membrane distillation. D. Exercise bikes.
7. What did Mattias Ronge think of the sweat machine?
A. It did not work at all. B. It was not worth popularizing.
C. It could only be used in summer. D. The water it produced tasted sweet.

Metaverse(元宇宙)
You've probably started to hear this word being thrown around lately. If you're feeling lost, you're in the right place. Here, we'll try to answer some big questions from Microsoft's point of view. What is a metaverse? Does it already exist? 1 Let's dig in.
Simply put, a metaverse is a digital space inhabited by digital representations of people, places and things. Think of it like a new version, or maybe a new vision, of the Internet. 2 Now we can actually go into that place to communicate, share, and work with others. It's an Internet that you can actually interact with—like we do in the physical world.
And it's not just a vision anymore. Right now, you can go to a concert and experience a show with other real people inside a video game. 3 Those are metaverses. And the future is already here!
4 “But my digital self is not my physical self. ” Well that is technically true. But Microsoft is working to help you better represent your whole self in the digital space, while also ensuring that you can bring your humanity and your agency over with that representation.
If the past few years have taught us anything, it's that we need flexibility. The world has never been more connected, but lately, we've often needed to distance ourselves physically. The closer we can reflect our physical selves in the digital world, the more of these barriers we can break down. Teammates can join meetings from anywhere. Real-time translation allows people from diverse cultures to collaborate in real-time. 5 The metaverse has the ability to take us beyond the barriers and limitations of the physical world.
A.And are you already in it?
B.Have you been lost in a metaverse?
C.However, there's some doubt about them.
D.Many people talk about the Internet as a place.
E.You can walk a factory floor from your own home.
F.There are good reasons to take the metaverse seriously.
G.This is what takes this from a cool idea to a critical one.
