阅读理解+阅读七选五+书面表达分类综合训练 一、阅读理解A“The Road Not Taken” is one of Robert Frosts most familiar and popular poems. It is made up of four stanzas (节) of five lines each. The popularity of the poem is largely a result of the simplicity of its symbolismthe speaker must choose between diverging (分叉的) paths in a woodand he thinks that choice is like choosing between different directions in life. Though it is a simple poemdifferent people have different interpretations of how the speaker feels about his situation and how the readers view the speaker.Frost wrote the poem in the first personwhich raises the question of whether the speaker is the poet himself or a personaa character created for the purposes of the poem. According to a biographyRobert FrostThe Years of Triumph by Lawrence ThompsonFrost would often introduce that the speaker was based on his friend Edward Thomas“A person whowhichever road he wentwould be sorry he didn’t go the other.”In the first stanzathe speaker must choose between two paths in different directions. He regrets that he cannot follow both roadsso he pauses for a long while to consider his choice. In this stanza and the nextone road seems preferable; howeverin the third stanza he has decided that the two paths are roughly equivalent (相同的). And then he tries to cheer himself up by comforting himself that he will return someday and walk the other road.In the last part of the poemhoweverthe speaker realizes that he probably will never return to walk another path. He believes that when he looks back years laterhe will see that he had actually chosen the “less traveled” roadwhich may make a big difference to his life. The poem is entitled “The Road Not Taken”which implies that he will never stop thinking about the other path he might have followed.1. Why is the poem “The Road Not Taken” popularA. What can we learn about the two paths in the second stanzaA. Very few people can choose both roads.B. The two roads are actually the same.C. Both roads are worth choosing.D. One of the roads seems better.4. How would the speaker feel years later according to the authorA. He would keep dreaming of going back.B. The choice he made changed his life greatly.C. Not even our artists will be safe from the inevitable machine takeoverif a new development in artificial intelligence AIby a team of researchers from Rutgers University and Facebook’s AI lab offers a clue of what’s to come. They have designed an AI capable of not only producing artbut actually inventing whole new aesthetic (美的) styles similar to movements like impressionism or abstract expressionism. The ideaaccording to researcher Marian Manzoniwas to make art that is “novelbut not too novel.”The model used in this project involves a generator networkwhich produces the imagesand a discriminator networkwhich “judges” whether its art. Once the generator learns how to produce work that the distributor recognizes as artit’s given an additional directiveto produce art that doesn’t match any known aesthetic styles.“You want to have something really creative and striking—but at the same time not to go too far and make something that isn’t aesthetically pleasing” explained Ahmed Elgammal. The art that was generated by the system was then presented to human judges alongside human-produced art without showing which was which. To the researchers surprisethe machine-made art scored slightly higher overall than the human-produced art.Of coursemachines can’t yet replace the meaning that’s infused (注入) in works by human artistsbut this project shows that artist skill sets certainly seem duplicable (可复制的) by machines. What will it take for machines to produce content that’s infused with meaningThat might be the last AI frontier. Human artists can at least hang their hats in that field... for now.“Imagine having people over for a dinner party and they ask‘Who is that byAnd you say‘Wellit’s a machine actually. That would be an interesting conversation starter” said Kevin Walker.9 What can we infer about AI from Paragraph 2A. It may replace artists.B. It can produce new styles of art.C. It is totally at a loss about impressionism.D. It fails to reflect abstract expressionism.10. Marian find in his study that AI can ___ .A. create high quality artsB. combines content with meaningC. makes art aesthetically unpleasantD. please human judges with its art11. What does the underlined phrase “hang their hats” meanA. Discover.   B. Hold.C. Struggle.   D. Survive.12. The last paragraph suggests that Kevin ___ .A. uses machines to cook for a partyB. likes to join in a dinner partyC. expects the arrival of AID. cares about the starter of a chat DIn Canada and the United Statesthere is a new group of children called “satellite kids”who live in one place but whose parents live in another place.Asians are immigrating to Canada and the United States in larger numbers than ever before. Most Asians immigrate because they believe that they can give their children a better education in the West. In Asiaespecially in ChinaJapanand Koreait is difficult to go to university. Students must first pass the strict national examination. Howeverin Canada and the United Statesit is easy to go to universityand anyone who wants to go can go. As a resultAsian parents decide to leave their countries so that their children can go to university. The problem is that when Asians arrivethey discover that finding a job and making money are more difficult in the West than in the East. Alsothey find that they are very lonelyand that they miss their homes. Because of these two reasonsmost Asian parents decide to go back to work in Asia while their children study in the West. Thereforethese children become “satellite kids”and most of their parents do not know how sad it is to be a “satellite kid”.Only until now are Canadians and Americans discovering the “satellite kids” problem. Because these children do not speak English and their parents are not there to take care of themthey are often absent from school. To be a “satellite kid” means to grow up in a country where you know you are different and where you cannot make friends because you do not speak English well. Alsoit means to grow up alonebecause your parents are elsewhere. What these “satellite kids” will probably say to their parents is that it’s better to have parents around than to have a university education.13. The underlined words “satellite kids” in Paragraph 1 refer to Asian kids ___ .A. with no job B. living abroad aloneC. without parents D. not speaking English14. Some Asian parents send their kids abroad because the kids ___ .A. can easily find a job thereB. wants to improve their EnglishC. will have no national exams abroadD. may be accepted by universities abroad15. Some Asian immigrant children become “satellite kids” because their parents ___ .A. wants them to be independentB. wants them to go to universityC. need to go back home to workD. fined it’s hard to get a job abroad16. It can be inferred from the last paragraph that “satellite kids” .A. will attend school every dayB. grow well in a foreign countryC. may be lonely in a foreign countryD. speaks fluent English and has friends abroad 二、阅读七选五Do you know how to be realisticIt is important to be realistic.
