常见的表示例证关系的标志词语有:for example, for instance, in fact/as a matter of fact, actually, in other words/that is to say等。
表示转折关系的标志词语有: but, however, yet, while/though/although, or/otherwise, on the contrary, instead, nevertheless(然而), still, in contrast/comparison, by comparison等。
表示因果关系的标志词语有:so, therefore, thus, consequently(结果), as a result (of), so/such ...that ..., so that ...

A Few Tips for Self-Acceptance
We all want it... to accept and love ourselves. But at times it seems too difficult and too far out of reach. 36 Here’s a handful of ways that will set you in the right direction.
● 37 Do not follow the people who make you feel not-good-enough. Why do you follow them? Are you hoping that eventually you will feel empowered because your life is better than theirs? Know that your life is your own;you are the only you in this world.
E Set an intention for self-acceptance.
F. Stop comparing yourself with others.
G. When does the comparison game start?‘’Don’t forget to forgive yourself._ 5 But it can rob you of your self-confidence if you don’t do it.
D.Try to see things from your offender’s angle.
E.For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge.
F.To make your anger die away, try a simple stressmanagement technique.
G.If you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time.

(2020全国卷I)
● Recognize all of your strengths. Write them down in a journal. Begin to train your brain to look at strength before weakness. List all of your accomplishments and achievements. You have a job, earned your degree, and you got out of bed today. 39
●Now that you’ve listed your strengths, list your imperfections. Turn the page in your journal. Put into words why you feel unworthy, why you don’t feel good enough. Now, read these words back to yourself. 40 Turn to a page in your journal to your list of strengths and achievements. See how awesome you are?
A. Feeling upset again?
B. Where do you start?
C. Nothing is too small to celebrate.
D. Remember, you are only human.
List all of your accomplishments and achievements. You have a job, earned your degree, and you got out of bed today.(列出你所有的成就。
●__39__ Studies found that people who woke up early for exercise slept better than those who exercised in the evening. Exercise energizes you, so it is more difficult to relax and have a peaceful sleep when you are very excited.
A.You will stick to your diet.
B.Your quality of sleep improves.
C.You prefer healthy food to fast food.
D.There is no reason you should exercise in the morning.
E.You can keep your head clear for 4-10 hours after exercise.
F.After you exercise, you continue to burn calories throughout the day.
G.If you are planning to do exercise regularly, or you're doing it now, then listen up!
Medium color choices are generally furniture pieces such as sofas, dinner tables or bookshelves. __39__. They require a bigger commitment than smaller ones, and they have a more powerful effect on the feeling of a space.
A.While all of them are useful
B.Whatever you're looking for
C.If you're experimenting with a color
D.Small color choices are the ones we're most familiar with
E.It's not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces
F.So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time
G.Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways
__38__. They're the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms. Less tiring than painting your walls and less expensive than buying a colorful sofa, small color choices bring with them the significant benefit of being easily changeable.
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another funfilled holiday in the wilderness.__38__ Instead, we had a popup camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My natureloving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.
A.This time there was no tent.
B.Things are going to be improved.
C.The trip they took me on was a rough one.
D.I was to learn a lot about camping since then, however.
E.I must say that I have certainly come to enjoy camping.
F.After the trip, my family became quite interested in camping.
G.There was no shade as the trees were no more than 3 feet tall.
[答案] A
Over the years, there have been a number of different techniques to help designers approach this important point. __37__, they can get a little complex. But good news is that there're really only three kinds of decisions you need to make about color in your home: the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones.
空格后的they指代上文中的techniques,且与A项中的all of them相呼应,代入A项“尽管它们都很有用”,符合语境,故选A。
[答案] A
If anyone had told me three years ago that I would be spending most of my weekends camping, I would have laughed heartily.Campers, in my eyes, were people who enjoyed insect bites, illcooked meals, and uncomfortable sleeping bags. They had nothing in common with me.__36__
The friends who introduced me to camping thought that it meant to be a pioneer ...
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another funfilled holiday in the wilderness ...
...We have done a lot of it since ...
__40(E)__ It must be true that sooner or later, everyone finds his or her way back to nature.I recommend that you find your way in style.

根据下文“In Portugal, this would be a serious mistake, because it shows the chef that you don’t like their seasoning skills. 由此可知,G项“It may seem like simple request to ask for salt and pepper at a meal (吃饭时要盐和胡椒看似很简单)”符合此处语境,其中“request”是关键词,说明,在用餐时提出一些我们看来很平常的要求在某些国家是无礼的。故选G。
40.【答案】B
【解析】根据下文“the more comfortable you’ll begin to feel with its foreign cultural practices.

Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym, ” while another read: “__36___” With a workout partner, you will increase your training effort as there is a subtle (微妙) competition.
So, how do you find a workout partner?
First of all, decide what you want from that person. ___37___ Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility? Think about the exercises you would like to do with your workout partner.
You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media but it probably won’t result in a useful response. ___38___ If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.
My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. ___39___
You and your partner will probably have different skills. ___40___ Over time both of you will benefit — your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit. The core (核心) of your relationship is that you will always be there to help each other.
A. Your first meeting may be a little awkward.
B. A workout partner usually needs to live close by.
C. You’ll work harder if you train with someone else.
D. Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport?
E. How can you write a good “seeking training partner” notice?
F. Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other.
G. Any notice for a training partner should include such information.
35. 【答案】C
【解析】根据前文“Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partne.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym,”(《健身杂志》最近刊登了一篇题为《感谢健身伙伴的五个理由》的文章。 C “You'll work harder if you train with someone else.(如果你和别人一起训练,你会更努力。)”
36. 【答案】D
【解析】根据前文“First of all, decide what you want from that person. 和后文“Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility?(或者你只是想要身体健康,能够移动的力量和灵活性?)”,根据关键信息“Or”以及“or”后面的问句,可确定空格处应该也是一个类似结构的问句,可确定答案在DE中。 D“Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport?
37. 【答案】B
【解析】根据前文“You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but probably won't result in a useful response. 和后文“If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.(如果你打算在健身房锻炼,那个人一定是同一个健身房的。)” B“A workout partner usually needs to live close by.
【解析】根据前文“My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. G“Any notice for a training partner should include such information.
40.【答案】A
【解析】 根据前文“You and your partner will probably have different skills. 和后文“Over time, both of you will benefit -- your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit.(久而久之,你们双方都会受益——你的伴侣会举起更多的重量,你也会变得更健康。)”可知,“different skills”和“both of you will benefit”暗示要学会求同存异,一起合作,共同提高。 F“Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other.

Whether you’re in the final research stages of a major paper, or on a Zoom (a calling app) call for work, a dropped WiFi connection at zero hour is something annoying. ___1___ One of the most common reasons it happens is that too many devices are connected.
___2___ Now, with smartphones, iPads, smart TVs and so much more, it doesn’t take long for WiFi to hop aboard the struggle bus. Actually, even if a connected device isn’t actively sending or receiving data, it will still consume some of the available bandwidth. It means that if you have many devices connected, you can start to see slowdowns or drops in your WiFi connection. ___3___
The first and easiest fix is to disconnect unused devices from your WiFi. The easiest way to do this is to simply change your WiFi password, which will kick everyone off. Then, you can allow only certain devices to rejoin. ___4___ It is workable to stop gaming or downloading a movie.
___5___ First, run a speed test to check your current speed. (Google “speed test” to see a list of websites where you can do this.) You may have too many devices connected for the internet speed you’re paying for. If this is the case, contact your internet provider about upgrading to a higher speed. But you may want to try some of our other fixes first before spending the money.
A.What can you do about it?
B.Sometimes that’s all that’s required.
C.Finally, you may need to upgrade your connectivity.
D.People deal with this modern inconvenience all the time,

Accents are an important part of our identity. An accent gives clues about who we are, and the community we belong to or wish to belong to. ____6____
What is the difference between accents and pronunciation?
Accents are about localized ways of speaking a language. A French person may speak English flawlessly (完美无瑕地), just with a French accent. ____7____ However, pronunciation is something that — as a learner— you can get right or wrong. If your pronunciation is correct, you can communicate effectively with others whatever your accent is.
____8____
If you think back historically people were much more localized with generation after generation of families living in the same small villages and few people traveled out of that area during their lifetimes. So over many generations differences in accent emerged and became very distinct to particular areas. Mountainous villages that are not easily accessible often develop very strong and distinctive accents.
How important is it to get an accent right?
If you’re moving to a certain part of a country, you might want to integrate better with your new community. ____9____ That’s because it shows a sense of belonging to the community you are trying to fit in with.
How to improve your accent?
____10____ And then learners should consider which sounds exist in the language you’re learning and then spend some time in front of the mirror practicing moving your tongue and mouth to get those new and different sounds. And learners should be aware of stress and tone, which can sometimes even change the meaning of words.
A.Where do accents and pronunciation emerge?
B.They’re also important for those learning a new language.
C.Try to adapt your speech to sound more like the locals’ speech.
D.The best way is to learn the specific accent of that region.
E.Where do different types of accents come from?
F.That’s fine because there is no wrong or right with an accent.
G.Learners should first think about which sounds don’t exist in your native language.
【解析】根据上文“Accents are an important part of our identity.(口音是我们身份的重要组成部分)”可知,B项:They’re also important for those learning a new language.(它们对学习一门新语言也很重要)承接上文,说明口音的重要性,话题一致,其中“important”原词重现。故选B。
7.【答案】F
【解析】根据上句“A French person may speak English flawlessly (完美无瑕地), just with a French accent.(一个法国人可能会说一口流利的英语,只是带着法国口音)”可知,F项: That’s fine because there is no wrong or right with an accent.(因为口音没有对错之分)后句承接上句,说明一个法国人可能会说一口流利的英语且带着法国口音是没有问题的,因为口音没有对错之分。
根据“If you think back historically people were much more localized with generation after generation of families living in the same small villages and few people traveled out of that area during their lifetimes. So over many generations differences in accent emerged and became very distinct to particular areas.(如果你回想一下历史,人们更加本地化,一代又一代的家庭生活在同一个小村庄,很少有人在他们的一生中离开那个地区。 Where do different types of accents come from?(不同类型的口音从何而来?)
【解析】根据上句“If you’re moving to a certain part of a country, you might want to integrate better with your new community.(如果你要搬到一个国家的某个地方,你可能想要更好地融入你的新社区)”可知,D项:The best way is to learn the specific accent of that region.(最好的方法是学习那个地区的特定口音)承接上句,说明想要更好地融入新社区最好的方法是学习那个地区的特定口音。故选D。
10.【答案】G
【解析】根据本段的中心句“How to improve your accent?(如何改善你的口音?)”可知,G项:Learners should first think about which sounds don’t exist in your native language.(学习者应该首先考虑哪些音在你的母语中是不存在的)承接上句,说明改善口音的具体的方法,要首先应考虑哪些音在你的母语中是不存在的。故选G。

Recent research indicates that the ability to remain calm under pressure has a direct link with work performance. Talent Smart has conducted research on over a million people and found that 90% of top performers are skilled at managing their emotions in times of stress. ___11___.
Research conducted at the University of California found that people who focused daily on feeling grateful for what they’d experienced improved moods, energy, and physical health. ___12___, with them focusing the brain’s attention on something that is completely stress-free. Any positive thought will act to keep the brain's attention away from stress.
Taking regular time off to relax can help keep stress under control. Technology enables constant communication and the expectation that you should be available all the time. ___13___. Turning off work emails and mobile phones provides a break from these possible sources of stress.
___14___, so an adequate amount of sleep is essential. During sleep the brain ‘recharges’, organizing the day’s memories and storing or abandoning them, so that you wake up clear-headed. Self-control, attention and memory are all reduced without enough sleep.
The easiest way to make stress off-and-off lies in something that people do every day: breathing. The practice of focusing on breathing teaches the brain to let go of stressful thoughts for a while. Close the door and just sit in a chair and breathe. ___15___, which prevents the mind from wandering.
A.We should learn to take control
B.Sleep shortage raises stress levels
C.In addition, positive thoughts help reduce stress
D.However, this exposes people to stress more frequently
E.The goal is to spend the entire time focusing only on breathing
F.In the following section four effective ways to manage stress will be outlined
G.A big step in managing stress involves controlling your reactions to situations
【解析】上文“Recent research indicates that the ability to remain calm under pressure has a direct link with work performance. Talent Smart has conducted research on over a million people and found that 90% of top performers are skilled at managing their emotions in times of stress.
【解析】上文“Research conducted at the University of California found that people who focused daily on feeling grateful for what they’d experienced improved moods, energy, and physical health. 下文“..., with them focusing the brain’s attention on something that is completely stress-free.(通过他们把大脑的注意力集中在完全没有压力的事情上。)”
【解析】上文“Technology enables constant communication and the expectation that you should be available all the time. 同时承接下文“Turning off work emails and mobile phones provides a break from these possible sources of stress.(关掉工作邮件和手机可以让你从这些可能的压力来源中解脱出来。)” 。故选D项。
14.【答案】B
【解析】根据下文“so an adequate amount of sleep is essential.(因此充足的睡眠是必要的。)”
【解析】根据上文“The easiest way to make stress off-and-off lies in something that people do every day: breathing.(让压力离开的最简单的方法是人们每天都做的事情:呼吸。)” 上文“Close the door and just sit in a chair and breathe.(关上门,坐在椅子上呼吸。)”和下文“which prevents the mind from wandering.(这可以防止思想走神。)”

I began a new job in a new city six months ago. Big moments of changing like this have a way of dragging up deep, hidden fears we don’t face in our longer periods of stability. ____16____ .I was constantly losing sleep, had lots of panicky doubt, and even some regret when I thought about the job I just left.
Change is risk. Our primitive brains translate risk into danger, and our survival as a species depends on avoiding it. Though philosopher Nietzsche famously said, “That which does not kill us, makes us stronger”, the risk that it could kill you can easily cause anxiety. ____17____ . Me, no exception.
Unluckily, there are always big changes we must face at some point. ____18____ . The first thing I did when I doubted myself and my decision to take a new job and move to a new city was talk to people who know and care about me. They gave me so much good advice that I wrote it down and referred to it often in those early weeks.
____19____ . Simply thinking about the past challenges where you came out on top is a reminder that you will do so this time as well. Sometimes our greatest difficulties become our greatest moments of success.
Change, while requiring adjustment—sometimes painful adjustment—often finds its way back to balance. Change and struggle are usually the only ways to get to someplace better. ____20____ . So, the sooner you discover what helps you adjust, restart, and succeed during change, the easier it will be to bag the next peak.
A.Crisis is also opportunity
B.Change also never goes away
C.I also managed to learn from the past
D.That’s how species and individuals live together

19.【答案】C
