Born in the 2000s, what do you think of your generation? Young, creative, connected, global, smart, maybe good-looking? But what do other people think about your generation?
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the phone than the world around you. They see you as the “face-down generation” and wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies(自拍)to become successful in real life - or “IRL”, as you would say?
Other adults worry that today’s youth are spoiled and don’t want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always there to do everything for them. So today’s young people seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to serve their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you are one of them born in the 2000s, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face - down generation.
58.The writer led the readers to the passage _________.
A.by showing his ideas B.by asking questions
C.by describing the situation D.by doing a research
59.Young people born in the 2000s are called “face-down generation” because _________.
A.they are too shy to look up
B.they are not closely connected to the people around them
C.they are always busy with homework with their heads down
D.they show great interest in the phone and use it too much
60.The underlined word “spoiled” probably mean _________ in Chinese.
    A.well looked after B.not brave C.mean D.shy
    61.In the writer’s eyes, today’s teenagers _________.
A.are not creative because of the educational problem
B.are willing to take part in many social activities
C.are smarter and more good-looking than their parents
D.are going to become leaders in all places
62.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Mobile phones are harmful to teenagers’ growth and development.
B.Teenagers don’t need to change themselves to meet adults’ standards.
C.Although the young people have some problems, their future is full of hope.
D.Teenagers are better educated, so they will become leaders.

    C
You've probably heard many times how exercise is good for you. But do you know that there are two kinds of exercise?
    Aerobic(有氧的)exercise
Like other muscles, the heart enjoys a good workout. You can provide it with one in the form of aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is any kind of exercise that gets the heart working better. When you often give your heart this kind of workout, it will get stronger and better.
If you play team sports, you're probably meeting 60 minutes or more of physical activities on practice days. Some team sports that give you a great aerobic workout are basketball, soccer, and football. But if you don't play team sports, don't worry there are lots of ways to get aerobic exercise on your own or with friends. These include biking, running, swimming, skating, and walking quickly. In fact, these kinds of exercise that you do on your own are easier to go on when you leave senior high school.
    Strength training
The heart isn't the only muscle that can become better because of exercise. Most of the other muscles in your body enjoy exercise, too. When you use your muscles and they become stronger, you can be active for longer periods of time without getting worn out.
Strong muscles help protect you when you exercise by helping to prevent injuries. Muscles also burn more energy than fat when a person is at rest, so building up your muscles will help you burn more calories and keep a healthy weight.
    63. What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
    A. Aerobic exercise is only proper for strong people.
    B. The longer you do aerobic exercise, the stronger you will be.

    C. how long we should spend on aerobic exercise every day
    D. the advantage of doing exercise alone or with others
    65. In which ways does strength training help us?
① It can make us active all the time.
    ② It makes us stronger.
③ It helps us keep a healthy weight.
④ It prevents us from hurting ourselves
    A. ②③④ B.①②③ C.①②④ D.①③④
    66. What is the main difference between aerobic exercise and strength training according to the passage?

China’s national anthem (歌曲), March of the Volunteers, is a song that we learn at the beginning of primary school and sing while raising the National flag. 73
In September, the government passed the National Anthem Law, which began to take effect , requiring all citizens to honor it.
According to the new law, the anthem is only allowed to be played on certain time and places, such as during important sporting events or when raising the National flag. 74
Primary and middle schools must teach the anthem to their students and make them understand the song’s spirit and history. The law also requires citizens to be serious when singing the song. 75 If someone breaks the law, he or she can be detained (拘留) for up to 15 days.
76 It is the symbol of our country. The law makes sure people will be more serious when playing or singing the song.
77 For example, US school children should put their right hand over their heart while singing their country’s anthem at school. In Russia, the national anthem must be played on television and radio before the start and end every day. And in the Philippines, people are required to sing the national anthem loudly when it is played in public.

    A. It shouldn’t be played during private activities or as background music in public places.
    B. We can neither joke about it nor change the song’s words or music.
    C. Parents should educate kids to sing China’s national anthem correctly.

Hello,I'm Mary. I come from Rome, Italy. I'm 14 years old. Let me tell you something about my hometown. Rome is a wonderful place for traveling and shopping. It has a long history and attracts millions of visitors each year. Whenever you come to Rome, you will find it lively. It's better to go around the city on foot, for the roads and streets are always crowded. We are very relaxed about time. It's common for us to arrive late for parties. Also, we don't invite friends on Fridays, because Fridays are unlucky in our culture. For most visitors, spring or autumn might be the best season. It's neither too hot nor too cold then. We like August best. It's the most relaxing month, for we can enjoy a holiday for 4 weeks.

With the help of my parents, I have learned to do some housework, such as cleaning my room, cooking and so on. I can take care of myself well now. Thanks to my kind and patient teachers, I have developed good learning habits, and done better in study as well.
I will make greater efforts to achieve greater success in the future!
