三、阅读理解(15 题,每题2分,共30分)
A
There are certain things you never imagine yourself saying. “I just saw a worm (虫子) there!” is one of them. And I screamed (尖叫) it, actually.
The family was all here and we were in the garden when I saw a worm nearby. I asked my 6-year-old grandson to come and take away the worm. He picked up the worm, studied it quickly and then threw it into the air.
The worm flew and quickly fell on my face near my left eye. That's when the screaming and jumping started.
The most important thing in all this is that my grandson said he was sorry to me.
I was just reading a book about parents doing the slow and hard work of teaching manners (礼仪) to children. Table manners, language manners and even manners in dress, all show levels of self-control (自制力). Having self-control makes what we say and how we do things in a right way, making many of us appear (呈现) better than we really are. Manners are what civilize us---around our tables, in our families, homes and our neighborhoods.
So when a little boy has the courage (勇气) to apologize to a grandma who is screaming and jumping up and down, at least we know that our years of teaching young people manners are paying off (回报).
26. What's the relationship (关系) of the two persons in the story?
A. Grandfather and grandson. B. Grandmother and grandson.
C. Father and son. D. Mother and son.
27. What can we learn about the writer's grandson?
A. He was very afraid of worms. B. He always made trouble for others.
C. He didn't want to make his grandma afraid. D. The boy left the worm in tie garden at first.
28. What has the writer learned from the book?
A. Teaching manners to children is slow but easy. B. Manners make men different from animals.
C. Parents can control their children after reading it. D. Good manners help us appear better.
29. What does the underlined word "apologize” mean in the last paragraph?
A. tell the truth about something B. say sorry to somebody
C. give a hand to somebody D. give somebody a surprise
30. In the story, the writer mainly tries to ____________.
A. tell the importance of having good manners B. share a story about her and her grandson
C. tell parents how to teach their children D. talk about how the boy apologized to his grandma
B
Could you imagine (想象) sitting in a car driven by a computer, not a human? From August, self-driving taxis can run on roads in Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
Why do we make self-driving cars?
Self-driving cars give us many benefits (好处). They use computers to sense the things around them and make better use of space. This means fewer traffic jams (堵塞) and better parking (停车) of cars. For disabled (残疾的) people, self-driving cars can also help them get around more easily.
According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than1.35 million people are killed on roads around the world. Many more get hurt. Self-driving cars could reduce (减少) road accidents (事故) by 90 percent and save governments (政府) a lot of money, said the website TechDim. Most of the car accidents are caused (引起) by men. By using computers, self-driving cars don't make wrong decisions or lose focus (注意力) like humans do.
But self-driving cars aren't perfect. If something unexpected on the road happens (发生), self-driving cars can't react (反应) as fast as a human driver could. Also, during bad weather like heavy snow, self-driving cars would not see the lines on the road clearly. There might be an accident. The car's inside-computer could also get hacked (非法入侵) by someone, making it crash or change its destination (目的地).
It's clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars common and safe on our roads. And China is taking the lead (领先) in making this happen.

D. Because there will be fewer traffic jams.
34. What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?
A. The weaknesses of self-driving cars. B. The benefits of having a human driver.
