Teens are gaining(增加)weight. Today most teenagers are at least one size larger than teens were 20 years ago. Even clothing sizes have changed. Did you know that a small today used to be a medium 20 years ago?
A recent research shows 97% of teens need more exercise. It’s bad news because too little exercise means you are missing a lot of good things in life. Exercise helps in two ways.
First, exercise helps your body. Physical activity can make your body strong. It can also help you stay at a healthy weight. Doctors say that people who stay at a healthy weight have fewer health problems.
Second, exercise can help your mind. People who get plenty of physical activities might worry less and sleep better at night. You may even learn better in school. Students who are healthy can listen and understand better in class.
You can change your life and be more active at any point. It’s never too late. An article called How to Limit Screen Time and Get Moving gives these ideas:
Step away from the screen. Doctors call watching TV or playing video games screen time. You should have no more than two hours of screen time a day. You will enjoy life more if you leave it instead of watching it!
Start slowly. An hour a day can seem like a long time. Start with 10 minutes of new activities every day. Add more as you get stronger. Think about walking. Take the stairs instead of the lift. You will feel healthier.
Make fitness fun. Find a sport you like. It doesn’t need to be the traditional sports of basketball, soccer, or baseball. Those are all great sports and if you like them, play them. However, you can also try hiking, skateboarding, or even rope jumping. If you enjoy the sport, you will do it.
Choose food carefully. Help your family shop for healthy food. Read the labels(标签). Look for healthy foods. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Stop buying soft drinks and junk food. You will feel better if you eat right.
Exercise with others. Find a friend or family member to exercise or play with you. You will have more fun and it helps keep you responsible for going.

“Save the whales!”That's what the picture on Jake Smith's bedroom wall said. Jake liked having a picture that said something important: that showed he cared. He just never expected to get a chance to save a real whale, one right in his own neighborhood.
It was a Saturday morning when the newspaper first reported the
whales’ coming. A group of the animals were swimming close to the beach in Jake’s hometown. All the local people rushed out to the beach to see them. They were expecting a beautiful show, better than a movie, but nothing they’d have to do anything about.
Then one whale swam in the direction, directly towards land. It came in with the waves, and when the waves receded, it stayed. Its huge body on the sand. Suddenly, Jake and his family and all the others were no longer sightseers. They had to become rescuers(救助者). A few people ran towards the animal. They pushed and tried to force the whale back into the water, but it was no use.
An animal rescue service team soon arrived in a truck with heavy lifting machinery, to help move the animal. Jack and his family couldn’t do much on the beach, so they went back to their house and made sandwiches and hot tea for the rescuers. At least, Jake thought, they could help in some way.
Back at the beach, they offered the food to the rescuers and were happy to see that it was needed. It was getting dark. Some people lined up their cars along the beach and shined the headlights on the sand. The rescuers would not give up. After trying many times they were finally able to lift the whale into the water. Everyone cheered when it headed out to sea. It swam out about a mile and then disappeared for a moment under the sea. Then, in what looked like a jump of joy, it rose high above the water—a thank-you to those who had worked so hard to save his life.

The Legendary Bermuda Triangle (百慕大三角): A Mystery No More
For years, people have believed that an area of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Florida, USA was a dangerous place. They thought planes and boats passing through here were likely to disappear(消失). By 1964, a writer had called the area the “Bermuda Triangle”. The name stuck, and so did the mystery.
In 1945, five US Navy planes, called Flight 19 took off from Florida and never came back. After they disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle, different ideas had begun to spread that the area was a dangerous place. Even before this famous flight, several ships had disappeared in these waters. People had many different ideas about why this happened. Some people even believed that a huge octopus (章鱼) was responsible!
However, scientists believe that weather is part of the problem. Unusually shaped clouds above the area create strong winds that go down into the water, creating huge tsunami (海啸)waves that can take down boats or low-flying planes. And many researchers believe that there’s no mystery at all. Ship goes down and plane accidents happen all over the world. It just seems to happen more in the Bermuda Triangle because there's more traffic.
The Bermuda Triangle is also one of the deepest areas of the Atlantic, with some areas being 8 km (5 mi.) deep. So, remains are hard to find, which makes the disappearances seem even more mysterious. In 2011, the Flight 19 planes were found, showing that they didn’t completely disappear. But no matter how much evidence (证据) there is that the Bermuda Triangle is no more dangerous than any other part of the ocean, many still believe that you mustn’t go there.
( ) 42.The third paragraph mainly tells us about the _______ of the accidents in the area.
A. disadvantages B. facts C. causes D. results
( ) 43. It is hard to find the remains in the Bermuda Triangle because__________.
A. it’s too deep B. the water runs too quickly
C. they completely disappeared D. there are dangerous animals
( ) 44.The writer writes the passage mainly to ______________.
A. introduce the Bermuda Triangle to people
B. tell people the history of the Bermuda Triangle
C. encourage people to visit the Bermuda Triangle
D. show people how to pass the Bermuda Triangle safely
( ) 45.Which of the following sentences is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The Bermuda Triangle is an area of the Pacific Ocean.
B. People had many different ideas about what caused the disappearances.
C. Evidence shows that the Bermuda Triangle is the most dangerous area in the world.
D. By the time Flight 19 disappeared, the area had already been called the “Bermuda Triangle”.
