You might 33 whether that is a good way to ask questions. I think that’s OK. Now I’m studying in the US, and I find there are some differences between schools in the US and in Korea.
One big difference is the clothes students wear at school and how they look. In my country, all the students should wear uniforms when they go to school. Boys aren’t allowed to have long hair. Girls aren’t allowed to have long or colored nails.
Another difference is about the rules for parents. In Korea, when we begin a new year, our parents have to go to a meeting in our class. If they don’t go to that meeting, their children won’t have a grade or a report card from school.
However, in the US, there aren’t such strict rules above.
In Korea, a class is only 45 minutes and we have only five classes each weekday. When the bell rings, all the students can just stay in their classroom. They can’t move to a different room, but students in the US can.
In Korea students can’t go to work because they can’t find a job if they’re under 18. But in the US, many students work after school. This helps them make money. More importantly, this helps them become more independent. They’re able to do things by themselves in their own way, without asking other people for help.
    36. Which country is the writer’s hometown?
    A. B. C. D.
    37. What are the girl students allowed to do in the writer’s country?
    A. To color their nails. B. To have long nails.
    C. To grow their hair long. D. Not to wear uniforms in school.
    38. Which is TRUE about the Korea students according to the passage?
    A. They can design their school uniforms.
    B. They have twenty-five classes a week.
    C. They don’t get a report card from school.
    D. They have five classes in the weekend.
    39. From the passage, we can learn that ________.
    A. girls aren’t allowed to have long or colored nails in the US
    B. in Korea, the students must sit quietly and can’t move around in class
    C. in the US, many students work after school because this only helps them make money
    D. the US students don’t have such strict rules as the Korea students

Computers can injure (伤害) you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bike and break your arms, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly.

You probably know how to ride a bike safely. Now learn to use a computer safely.
    Your eyes
Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be at least 50cm from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest.
When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect on the screen. If the window is in front of you, the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes.
    Your hands and wrists (手腕)
Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these three rules: 1) Rest your wrists on something. 2) Keep your elbows at the same height as the keyboard. 3) Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way.
    Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in the wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms, wrists, hands and the upper part of your legs should all be parallel (平行) to the floor. If you are sitting for a longtime, get up every 30 minutes and exercise your arms, legs and neck.
Enjoy your computer, but use it safely.
    43. A computer screen may injure your eyes if ________.
    A. you sit 60cm away B. you remember to look away
    C. your eyes are too close to it D. the window is on your left or right
    44. Hand and wrist injuries are caused when you ________.
    A. get plenty of exercise B. move in the same way again and again
    C. rest your wrists on something D. keep your elbows as high as the keyboard
    45. It is good for your back and neck if you sit ________.
    A. in the right way B. for many hours
    C. with the screen below your eyes D. on a chair
    46. What would be the best title for the passage?
    A. How to protect your eyes B. How to protect your hands and wrists
    C. How to use a computer safely D. How to protect your back
    D
The lunar Chinese calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms (节气). Cold Dew is the 17th solar term of the year, which falls on October 8 and ends on October 22 this year.

Cold Dew, known as “Hanlu” in Chinese, is regarded as the real end of autumn, when the day comes with a wet land and dewdrops shine over leaves and flowers. It’s much colder than the White Dew.
During the Cold Dew, temperatures decrease quickly and sunshine cannot reach deep water. Fish swim to shallow waters where the temperature is higher.
It is a good season to enjoy pomegranates (石榴) around Cold Dew. Pomegranates have been praised for their outstanding beauty, smell, color, and health role for centuries.
There is a saying that goes “It is time to harvest hawthom (山楂) during Cold Dew.” The fruit has long been used in Chinese medicine.
Hawthom is thought to be good for heart health by making blood vessels (血管) strong and stimulating (促进) blood flow.
Southern Hunan province is a famous area for producing tea seed oil. Cold Dew is the right time to pick the seeds.
    47. Why do fish swim to shallow waters during Cold Dew?

    C. Because the temperature is less higher there.

    A. Pomegranates B. Hawthom C. Tea seed oil D. Pomegranates and hawthorm

    A. The Cold Dew falls on October 8 and ends on October 22 this year.
    B. The land is wet during Cold Dew.
    C. The White Dew is much colder than the Cold Dew.
    D. Chinese medicine has used hawthomn for a long time.
    50. The best title for the passage would be ________.
    A. Cold Dew is known as “Hanlu” in Chinese B. Plants during Cold Dew
    C. The history of Cold Dew D. The introduction of Cold Dew

When you speak, write a letter, or make a telephone, your words carry a message. People communicate with words. 51 A smile on your face shows you are happy or friendly. Tears in your eyes tell others that you are sad. When you put up your hands in class, the teacher knows you want to say something or ask questions. 52 You nod and people know you are saying “Yes”.
53 For example, a sign at the bus stop helps you to know which bus to take. A sign on the door tells you where to go in or out. Have you ever thought that there are a lot of other signs around you and that you receive messages from them all the time? 54 An artist can use his drawings to tell about the beautiful mountains, the blue seas and many other things. A writer writes books to tell you about all the wonderful things in the world and also about people and their ideas. 55 They can help us to know what is going on in the world and what other people are thinking about.
    A. People can communicate in many other ways.
    B. But do you know people also communicate without words?
    C. Other things can also carry messages

    写作
    Dear Mike,
How is it going these days?
We have just finished our National Day holiday. But because of the virous, we were advised not to leave Tai’an unless it’s necessary.
But we still have many meaningful things to do. We can go to the Martyrs’ Cemetery to honor martysrs. We won’t have such a happy life without them. We are not supposed to wear red clothes. We are supposed to bow. Offering white chrysanthemum is considered as a better choice. We could also do something for our family such as doing chores and making delicious food. Children should be educated to take care of themselves.
In my opinion, it is necessary for us to reduce the chance of going out. If we have to go out, we are supposed to wear masks. Having a picnic or climbing are good choices. Because we had better not go to a far place.

Last Sunday night, Jenny was at home alone. While she was reading a history book in her room, she heard some strange noises. She stopped reading and went to the door quietly. The noises went on. Someone was knocking at the door. She felt so scared that she hid herself under the chair.
Suddenly she heard a voice, “Lucy, are you there? Have you locked the door inside? I can’t open it.” Oh, it was Mom. “Yes, Mom,” she answered and ran to open the door. When she saw Mom standing outside, she couldn’t help crying. Mom said, “I am sorry and I won't leave you home alone again while I'm at work. I will ask your aunt to stay with you.”
