How to Create a Morning Routine and Stick to It
The simplest way to start your day well is to create a morning routine. Here are some steps to create a routine that will become a permanent part of your daily life.
Identify Your Current Challenges
Review your current behaviors and separate the good habits from the bad. Maybe your alarm goes off and you roll over, pick up your phone, and start checking your email. Or, you go straight for social media. If you’re like me, you can easily get lost in your phone. So reserve positive habits such as exercising, reading things that you find interesting, doing daily journaling and focusing on your important projects.
Pick Habits That Are Important To You
A successful morning routine should be simple and straightforward. It should include activities that support your goals, values, and the things that make you happy. To get started, click on the link to watch this video and pick a few good habits that match your personal preference.
Schedule Your Morning Routine
It’s important to schedule your morning routine at certain times throughout the week. You should schedule it at a specific time each day and make sure you have enough time to complete it. To get started, try scheduling at least 30 minutes for this morning routine.
Focus on Consistency
The most important aspect of a morning routine is consistency. That’s why you should make the commitment to never miss a day of your morning routine. A quick strategy to stay consistent is to apply the “don’t break the chain” principle that’s discussed in the following video.

Li Jianguo, a 49-year-old teacher at the Tianjin Vocational Institute, is set to be named as one of the “2022 most beautiful teachers” — an annual public award sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Ministry of Education.
Li has stood out by taking the lead in the training of students in vocational skills, gaining a number of honors including being named a national role model teacher. He has mentored seven national-level technique experts and a team of 14 technique “masters”. One of his students, Guo Jinpeng, who graduated from the institute in 2007, became a college teacher at the Chengdu Auto Vocational and Technical School and was named a national role model teacher in 2019.
Li’s nomination as one of the “most beautiful teachers” reflects that China is focusing on the importance of vocational education and aims to foster more leading personnel with the spirit of craftsmanship in the manufacturing industry.
At an international vocational and technical education conference in Tianjin last month, Li noted that there is no difference between vocational education and ordinary education, and “vocational education is not “secondary” nor should it ever be treated as less than ordinary education”. “Vocational education has the mission of fostering a quality workforce and technical experts for the country. The hardworking spirit is the key to building any ordinary people into leading personnel,” he said.
Li joined the institute in 1993 and later founded a machinery engineering practice center, providing free training to 7,500 people a week. In 2015, he led a team of teachers to work for 40 days to renovate 124 machine tools in the center. Li has devoted himself to building the country’s first additive manufacturing technique and application center at the institute to satisfy the thirst for the country’s human resources in 3D printing.

Roads and railways have made it easy for people to travel around the UK, but have had the precisely opposite effect for insects. Alongside housing developments, transport infrastructure (基础设施) has separated insect habitats, leaving many pollinators (传粉昆虫) stuck on decreasing islands of biodiversity.
A new conservation project aims to address that by creating a network of wildflower superhighways across the UK. The B-Lines network aims to join the dots between meadow habitats, enabling pollinators and other wildlife to move freely between them. Ten years in the making, the B-Lines initiative was launched by the insect charity Buglife on Tuesday and has already generated interest from unexpected quarters. “After the launch, some house builders rang up asking how they could include the network into house building, so it could have a really positive effect,” said Buglife’s Paul Hetherington.
Buglife has spent the last decade mapping potential routes for the insect superhighway. Hetherington said the proposed highway could give the UK’s weak insects a boost and a route out of habitats that become too hot due to the climate crisis and it can make a huge difference in easing declines. “The things that have really hammered pollinators are habitat loss, loss of connectivity of habitat, climate change and pesticides—this deals with everything except pesticides,” said Hetherington.
The B-lines network is not just a concept. Pilot sections have already been completed, including the South Wales B-Lines near Cardiff. “Since that was done, there have been recordings of one of our rarest bees in Cardiff town centre, which shows this connectivity can work,” said Hetherington. And in Norwich, Buglife has been working with Network Rail to plant wildflowers along the track. Anyone living along the proposed route can get involved in the project. All they need to do is let their lawns grow, or even just create a small herb garden, which Hetherington likened to creating a “motorway service station for bees”.
8. What can we learn about the B-Lines network from paragraph 2?
A. It will separate insect habitats. B. It can help insects to pollinate.
C. It is still being planned now. D. It hasn’t caused any attention.
9. What does the underlined word “this” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. The last decade. B. The superhighway. C. The climate crisis. D. The decline.
10. How can people in Norwich participate in the project?
A. By recording the tracks of bees. B. By cooperating with Network Rail.
C. By planting herbs in their own gardens. D. By creating a motorway service station.
11. What is the text mainly about?
A. Roads and railways have caused bad effect on insects.
B. Transport infrastructure prevents housing developments.
C. Pollinators are stuck on decreasing islands of biodiversity.
D. Conservationists are creating “superhighways” for insects.
【答案】8. B 9. B 10. C 11. D

In the months that followed, the Ruprechts decided to rebuild a less-leaky home equipped against future wildfires and poor air quality. The family’s research led them to passive building. Combined with carefully placed windows, such buildings can reduce a home’s energy needs by 90 percent compared to typical homes.
But the Ruprechts soon discovered their ambitions faced a major obstacle: cost. High construction prices and low insurance payouts have discouraged Marshall fire victims trying to rebuild their homes. The few local companies offering to build passive homes wouldn’t work within the couple’s budget.
That all changed with a link posted in an online community group. It directed Peter Ruprecht to a web page for the RESTORE Passive House, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home designed for the Marshall fire burn area. The designers promised a $550,000 price tag after government incentives, which the couple could afford.
The couple is now the first to sign up to build the home. “It feels like a no-brainer,” Ruprecht said. “We’re getting better at everything in terms of construction quality, fire resistance, comfort and doing a good job for the planet.”
Debates over construction costs and climate-minded building standards have supercharged local politics in the aftermath of the Marshall fire. Earlier this year, Louisville and Superior – the two communities hit hardest by the disaster — faced intense pressure from fire victims worried compulsory green building codes would further boost construction prices. Both local governments ended up allowing those families to rebuild to earlier, less-strict standards.
The RESTORE Passive House attempts to prove green homes can fit within middle-class budgets. The task could prove critical as governments push to reduce the climate impact of buildings, which account for 13 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and 20 percent of Colorado emissions — largely due to natural gas appliances and an electricity grid dominated by fossil fuels. Passive homes could also help protect families from climate threats like poor air quality and future fires.
12. What’s the major feature of passive buildings?
A. Economic. B. Climate-friendly. C. Delicate. D. Costly.
13. What contributed to the Ruprechts’ rebuilding their new home?
A. Posting their needs online to raise money.
B. Receiving assistance from insurance company.
C. Connecting with an online design and build team.
D. Negotiating with the local companies.
14. What does the underlined phrase “a no-brainer” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. A risky attempt. B. A tough task.
C. A stupid idea. D. An easy decision.
15. What does the author intend to tell us in the text?
A. The green house for Marshall fire victims isn’t a luxury home.
B. The RESTORE Passive House aims to build green homes for free.
C. All the governments stuck to their strict green building codes.
D. The Ruprechts rebuilt their home despite high construction costs.
【答案】12. B 13. C 14. D 15. D

Emily came from a musical family. Her father was a famous pianist in his early years and later was a music instructor. Her mother, however, was a performer and composer. Emily’s older brother was a Cello and part of the church’s choir. However, Emily wasn’t like her brother. She was unable to play any instrument.
“You have to be an instrument that you’re playing. Why aren’t you able to do it?” Emily’s father said to her, advising her to learn to play the piano. From time to time, her mother would show the wish that Emily could develop her ability to perform on the stage. It seemed that the whole family was pushing her to play music. Every time this happened, it was a massive pain for her. Emily felt that she wasn’t part of her family. It was her dream to become just like the rest of them. However, no matter how hard she tried, she was unable to.
“Being different doesn’t mean that you aren’t blessed with any potential or talent,” said Sarah, a teacher of Emily. “Maybe there is something interesting that I can do,” Emily thought. Every evening, Emily spent time sketching or drawing and painting in her bedroom. Her paintings showed her father on the piano and her brother on the Cello as well as her mother performing on the stage. Her paintings were vivid and the emotions were real. The paintings revealed how much her family was devoted to music. The paintings also revealed the things Emily was skilled at.
But her family did not even know. The only thing they knew was that Emily was unable to sing and play one musical instrument. And they weren’t happy with her at all. Emily was a lover of her loved ones, and she loved them dearly. She wanted to be the pride of the family someday. How could this happen when she wasn’t able to do what they asked her to accomplish?

1.续写词数应为 150 左右;

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】The answer was found when Sarah saw her gift for arts. Sarah was amazed by Emily’s talent, and she showed Emily’s paintings to her classmates. All the classmates were impressed with her paintings. But Emily still seemed unsatisfied with herself and appeared unhappy. Sarah felt confused. After knowing the reason, Sarah got a brilliant idea. One day, she went to Emily’s home to visit her family with Emily’s artwork, which vividly revealed how much her family was devoted to music.
When her parents saw her artwork, they were moved deeply. They felt sorry for their little girl for forcing her to do what she was not good at. They went to Emily and hugged her firmly, “My dear baby! Please forgive us. We just pushed you too hard to play one instrument despite the fact music was not what you were good at.” Emily couldn’t believe what she had heard. Her mother went up and smiled to her: “Emily, you are the pride of our family. From now on, you just need to be yourself. You are unique!”
【解析】

【详解】1.段落续写:
