When I was a child, I was ften asked at schl wh my rle mdel was the persn that yu admire and inspires yu. I always mentined different names: frm the celebrity f the mment t my grandfather.
It was always difficult fr me t chse a single persn as a rle mdel, because I liked different things frm different peple. Based n the peple that I admired and inspired me. I managed t create a custm rle mdel in my mind.
Fr years there has been a cnstant struggle t achieve gender equality, and when I decided t study at my university I leaned twards engineering because I wanted a challenge in my life, bth intellectually and culturally. Back then, nly 10% f the students were wmen. This certainly did nt stp me. On the cntrary, it was a determining factr fr me t prve myself that I culd handle smething that was "nt expected" fr wmen.
Thrughut my studies I realized that there was n difference between me and my teammates; we all had the same pssibilities and capabilities. Hwever, my main challenge was determined by culture, as we grew up with certain values and scial nrms that tld us that careers in science r engineering were nt fr wmen.
It was cmplicated and I had t g thrugh uncmfrtable situatins, but pursuing a technical career brught me many benefits, such as develping systematic thinking. This is a basic tl t create pssibilities in the future and achieve a mre ratinal understanding abut the ecnmic and scial systems in which we live, and it allws yu t have the pssibility t becme the architect f yur wn life.
When girls decide t pursue a technical career, they nt nly benefit themselves, but als help break the steretypes in their envirnment. They becme agents f change capable f mdifying existing structures.
It is like swing seeds fr the future. If we want a fairer wrld where wmen and men can decide n ur future, we have t invlve girls starting tday, encuraging them t explre technlgy and science. Sw a seed and in the future it will give yu a tree with many fruits. This is nt nly an individual benefit but a cllective ne.

Places like Miami Beach are trucking in thusands f tns f sand t patch up(修补)badly erded shrelines, while thers have built sea walls and breakwaters in an attempt t hld precius sand in place. But the financial and envirnmental csts f these prjects are huge, and scientists say rugh seas and mre pwerful strms, wrsened by a warmer climate, will make this a lsing battle.
Hwever, the researchers did find that humans have sme cntrl ver what happens t the wrld's beaches. If the wrld's gvernments are able t stick t mdest cuts in heat-trapping gas pllutin, the researchers fund that 17% f prjected beach lsses by 2050 culd be prevented, and that number will grw t 40% by 2100 if greenhuse gases are limited.
