Once when I was facing a decisin that invlved high risk, I went t a friend. He lked at me fr a mment, and then wrte a sentence cntaining the best advice I’ve ever had: Be bld and brave — and mighty (强大的) frces will cme t yur aid.
Thse wrds made me see clearly that when I had fallen shrt in the past, it was seldm because I had tried and failed. It was usually because I had let fear f failure stp me frm trying at all. Bldness — a willingness t extend yurself t the extreme — is nt ne that can be acquired vernight. But it can be taught t children and develped in adults. Cnfidence builds up. Surely, there will be setbacks (挫折) and disappintments in life; bldness in itself is n guarantee (保证) f success. But the persn wh tries t d smething and fails is a lt better ff than the persn wh tries t d nthing and succeeds.
S, always try t live a little bit beynd yur abilities — and yu’ll find yur abilities are greater than yu ever dreamed.

C. Develp mre mysterius pwers.D. Learn t make creative decisins.
29. What was especially imprtant fr Tim’s successful defense in the ftball game?
A. His physical strength.B. His basic skill.C. His real fear.D. His spiritual frce.
30. What is the authr’s purpse in writing this passage?
A. T encurage peple t be curageus.B. T advise peple t build up physical pwer.

第三部 分书面表达(共两节,满分20分)
第一节 阅读表达(共4小题;第36、37题各两分,第38题2分,第39题4分,共10分)
阅读下面短文,根据题目要求回答问题。
Balancing Trees and CO2
Tree planting used t be regarded as an effective means f reducing climate change. Perhaps it’s time fr us t rethink this practice. Trees pull CO2 frm the air. This effectively remves CO2 frm the atmsphere. But trees nly hld nt CO2 as lng as they’re alive. Once they die, trees decay (腐烂) and release that CO2 back int the atmsphere.
Recent studies have fund that trees arund the wrld are grwing faster than ever. The rise f CO2, mainly due t burning fssil fuels, is prbably driving that rapid grwth, said Rel Brienen, a frest eclgist at the University f Leeds, UK. High levels f CO2 are increasing temperatures, which in turn speeds tree grwth in thse areas, he added.
The faster trees grw, the faster they stre carbn. It seems like gd news. Hwever, it is knwn that fast-grwing tree species, in general, live shrter lives than their slw-grwing relatives.
In rder t see whether the grwth-lifespan trade-ff (生长与寿命之间的权衡) is a universal phenmenn, Brienen and his clleagues analyzed ver 210,000 individual tree ring recrds f 110 tree species frm mre than 79,000 sites wrldwide. They fund that, in almst all habitats and all sites, faster-grwing tree species died yunger than slw-grwing species, and even within a species, the trade-ff between grwth and lifespan held strng.
The team als created a cmputer prgram that mdeled a frest and tweaked (微量调整) the grwth f the trees in this mdel. Early n, it shwed that “the frest culd hld mre carbn as the trees grew faster”, Brienen reprted. But after 20 years, these trees started dying and lsing this extra carbn again. “We must understand that the nly slutin t bringing dwn CO2 levels is t stp emitting (排放) it int the atmsphere,” said Brienen.
36. What des “this practice” in Para.1 refer t?
37. Why are trees arund the wrld grwing faster than ever?
38. Read the fllwing statement, underline the false part f it and explain the reasn.
The team has fund that the faster trees grw, the faster they stre CO2, and the lnger lives they live.
39. Please briefly present what yu can d in daily life t reduce the emissin f CO2 . (abut 40 wrds)
