By nw, it’s well understd that a warming planet is slwly advancing the arrival f spring. Nw, a new study takes a lk at its impact n a spring event — hatching(孵化) sngbird chicks — and what the ptential cnsequences are fr the future f birds. The study fund that birds are prducing fewer chicks when they start breeding( 繁 殖 ) t early r t late in the spring seasn. As climate change results in earlier springlike weather, birds have been unable t adapt their reprductive readiness.
As the start f spring begins earlier and earlier, the researchers anticipate that this trend will nly wrsen, generating a largescale impact n many bird ppulatins that culd even lead t extinctin. “By the end f the 21st century, spring is likely t arrive abut 25 days earlier, with birds breeding nly abut 6.75 days earlier,” said the study’s first authr, Casey, “Our results suggest that breeding prductivity may decrease abut 12% fr the average sngbird species.”
Casey als emphasized that understanding the timing fr sngbird ecsystems is “very imprtant” . As climate change wrsens, pllinatrs( 传粉昆虫) are als affected, meaning less insect fd fr birds. Accrding t the researchers, their timing n lnger matches that f the insects their chicks need t feed n, making the yung miss ut surces f fd that usually play a majr rle in their grwth.
Indeed, in 2019, a study published in Science estimated that Nrth America has seen a net lss f 2.9 billin birds since 1970. “It’s hard t predict fr any given species what might happen,” said Mrgan, the study’s senir authr. Mrgan said as individuals we can’t stp climate change, but that there are small actins individuals can take t prtect birds — like keeping utdr cats inside.
But aren’t birds adaptable? They survived the end f the dinsaur times, after all. Casey said yes, they are adapting — it’s just nt happening fast enugh in the face f accelerating climate change. He added it’s especially tricky fr migratry birds because they dn’t have great infrmatin n what’s happening where they’ll arrive as the climate warms up.
What can the new study be abut?
The cntributing factrs f birds’ prductivity.
The effect f climate change n bird reprductivity.
The ptential cnsequences f hatching sngbird chicks.
The link between springlike weather and birds’ adaptatin.
What can gd timing cntribute t?
A. Mre affected insects.B. Fewer insect matches.
C. Mre fd surces.D. Fewer yung sngbirds.
What can be inferred frm Mrgan’s wrds?
Everyne can make a difference t birds prtectin.
Experts can anticipate the extinctin f birds species.
Individuals can take actin t prevent climate changes.
Researchers must stress the timing fr sngbirds ecsystem.
Which f the fllwing can be a suitable title fr the text?
Early Spring Equals Fewer Baby Birds
Fewer Fd Threatens Prer Sngbird Grwth
Climate Change Challenges Migratry Birds’ Adaptatin
Springlike Weather Fastens Birds’ Reprductive Readiness

Shuld e-sprts be cnsidered real sprts?
Despite the wrd “e-sprts” having “sprts”right in the name, the debate abut whether e-sprts can be defined as sprt r nt is far frm reslved.
Persnally speaking, I d agree that e-sprts are very much sprts as they have many similarities t traditinal sprts. First, e-sprts require the same kind f cncentratin, training and cmpetitiveness. Secnd, in rder t achieve tp perfrmance in e-sprts, athletes have t train just as hard as traditinal athletes, spending cuntless hurs practicing and imprving. Third, althugh it seems that few physical activities are invlved in e-sprts, a healthy bdy and a healthy mind g hand in hand and are as decisive in e-sprts as in any ther sprts.
I believe e-sprts will cntinue t earn a rightful place in the sprts wrld. (129)
