When Philip Santini nticed an infectin, he cntacted his primary care physician, Jane Chargt, M. D., and she gave him sme medicine.

“I was ready t head ut t the emergency department,” said Santini, wh even had a list f things t take when he gt a call frm Stephanie Paran, R. N., a nurse at U-M Briarwd Family Medicine. “Hearing Paran’s wrds, I sprang t my feet and didn’t hesitate t accept the advice.”
Althugh he initially didn’t knw what t expect, he later said what the care team did was far beynd his expectatins, especially the caregivers. The staff gave him infusins three times a day fr six days. They tk his regular medicatins away, just like hw they wuld in a hspital. They checked the infectin, drew bld and even brught in an ultrasund machine. “I didn’t knw that was pssible,” Santini said. After discharge, a Michigan Visiting Nurse visited nce a week until he cmpletely recvered.
Santini believed treatment at hme has helped the healing prcess. “I’ve never felt really cmfrtable in the hspital,” he said. “It’s hard t get gd sleep there.
