    In 2015, Prfessr Wang Zhenyi, wh specializes in treating acute prmyelcytic leukemia (APL)(急性早幼粒细胞白血病), received a letter f thanks frm America. The writer f the letter was Mrs. Berna-dette Giandmenic, wh nce suffered frm APL but was cured with all-trans-retinic acid (ATRA)(全反式维甲酸), a treatment develped by Wang and his medical team.
    Wrking at Ruijin Hspital, Wang has been devting his life t the treatment f leukemia. He received the cuntry's highest hnr in science and technlgy in 2010.
    Brn in 1924 in Shanghai, Wang was inspired by a family friend's experience f pursuing a career in medicine as a child. His grandmther's death caused by typhid (伤寒) further strengthened his reslve t fight against diseases and rescue patients. With utstanding academic perfrmance, Wang became a dctr at Guangci Hspital, tday's Ruijin Hspital.

In 1986, the drug was first adpted in treating a five-year-ld patient. It turned ut successful.
