6W(What /Who /When / Where /Why/Which )+1H(How)及其变式进行提问时,用此口诀解题。
A woman was collecting money for a charity. The money she collected was going to be given to poor children who had no parents to take care of them. She went from house to house. She knocked on doors and asked for money.
Who was the woman collecting money for?
    A.Poor children. B.Herself. C. Her friends D.An artist.

You will swim there without danger if you remember these instructions(指示):
    * Never swim alone.
    * Never swim after a meal or when you feel hungry or tired.
    * Do not stay in the water too long.
    * Never go out in a boat if you cannot swim.
Remember: A red flag means that it is dangerous for anybody to go into the water. A blue flag means that it is dangerous for children.
Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
    A. You can always swim when you see a red flag
    B. You should not swim with other people.
    C. You should not swim after lunch
    D.You can't swim for a short time.
A red flag means that it is dangerous for anybody to go into the water."不符,B项在原文中没有体现,C项的not swim after lunch与原文Never swim after a meal同义, D项can't swim for a short time与原文“Do not stay in the water too long.”

A few years ago I went through such a serious depression (抑郁症) that life didn’t seem worth living. It was like that I was living in the cold winter all the time. Then I saw snowdrops (雪花莲) pushing through the cold and hard ground. I looked at them every day until I felt that if they could come back to life, then so could I. (1)Those green plants gave me hope in a special way.
As spring came, I started to put in more and more plants, until the garden was full of colours. Life was growing through my hands, gentle and peaceful. If I gave love, it was returned, a hundredfold (百倍的).
I could spend hours lost in gardening. The form of depression I have is biological (遗传的). (2)Ithas influenced many of my family with no reason and no rules. I can be depressed when the sun is shining or I am surrounded by a group of loving friends. Of course, fresh air and exercise help to reduce depression, but for me gardening is more than that. It stands for treatment as well as hope.
At the centre of the first garden, I planted a tree by myself. It is huge and magnificent (茂盛的) now. It stands the low temperatures and strong winds. The leaves drops in autumn but the tree always, always (3) ________ to life in spring. And so I learn that we may fall, we may hurt, we may be tested, but there is always hope.

31.What does the underlinde word “it” refer to?

33.What does gardening mean for the writer?

34.Please give a best title to the passage.

31.(The form of)depression. 32.comes back 33.It means/stands for treatment as well as hope. 34.There Is Always Hope
    30.Those green plants那些绿色的植物;gave me hope给我希望;in a special way以一种特殊的方式。
31.根据上文“The form of depression I have is biological.Ithas influenced many of my family with no reason and no rules.”可知此处It指代上文提到的“The form of depression”,故填(The form of) depression.
32.根据第一段中的信息“I looked at them every day until I felt that if they could come back to life”结合本句“The leaves drops in autumn but the tree always, always … to life in spring.” 故填comes back。
33.根据“It stands for treatment as well as hope.” It means/stands for treatment as well as hope.
34.根据文中的信息“And so I learn that we may fall, we may hurt, we may be tested, but there is always hope.” 标题可用“There Is Always Hope”。故填There Is Always Hope。

Four years ago, my mother gave birth to a brother for me when I was 10. I have learned a lot from getting along with him.
After he was born, I almost became a babysitter. I had to amuse him after school. I would make faces and sing to him when he was crying. Sometimes I even carried him everywhere in our yard to cheer him up while my parents were busy. What I liked to do best was to feed him when looking after him. How cute he was as he tasted his favorite food! My parents often praised me happily. As an elder brother, you've made contributions to looking after your younger brother.

根据第一句“Four years ago, my mother gave birth to a brother for me when I was 10.”
根据下一句“I would make faces and sing to him when he was crying.” 故选A。
根据第二段中“I would make faces and sing to him when he was crying. Sometimes I even carried him everywhere in our yard to cheer him up while my parents were busy. What I liked to do best was to feed him when looking after him.”
根据最后一段开头两句“Thanks for spending these years together with my family. It has taught me how to be responsible and unselfish.”

The nose helps us a lot. It tells us when dinner is almost ready and leads the way to sweet cakes. It also tells us to keep away from bad smells. But do you know the interesting facts about something that smells bad?
    Fish
You might have noticed that fish smell unpleasant sometimes. Fish from the ocean smell the strongest. These saltwater fish have a chemical (化学物质) called TMAO. While we prepare fish for cooking, TMAO is already changing into other things. One is called TMA.It smells super smelly. Usually, before cooks make saltwater fish a dish, they wash fish. And most of the TMA can be washed away. Cooks also add lemon to make the fish less smelly.
    Feet
Foot sweat (脚汗) itself does not have a bad smell at first. But it has food and water that the bacteria (细菌) need. With them, the bacteria give off some smell. Most shoes often keep sweat in them. That makes shoes and socks warm and wet—a place where bacteria can grow. Different types of bacteria give off different smells. That’s why feet may smell like bad vegetables, smelly eggs or other smelly things.
    Eggs
Many things smell terrible when they go bad. But a bad egg gives off the most famous bad smell of all and draws people’s attention. When an egg goes bad, the bacteria help to change the sulfur (硫) in its white part into sulfur and hydrogen (硫化氢). And it smells really bad. The nose just warns us away from it because too much sulfur and hydrogen will harm our health.

C.By drawing pictures. D.By giving examples.

(2023·江苏镇江·统考中考真题)Katie was waiting for Gulliver’s calls. Instead, she just heard sparrows making noise in the bushes. “Maybe Gulliver missed the harbour.” Dad said. After breakfast, Katie took her camera to the harbour. All the colourful boats made pretty pictures, but not the one she wanted most.

Katie waved to Ernest, her uncle’s neighbour, on the boathouse. The gull’s name, Gulliver, was given by him. The gull’s size and his single leg made the bird itself different. But Ernest told Katie what Gulliver did that first summer Katie and her dad came caught everyone’s attention. Young Katie lay in her stroller (婴儿车) on the floating dock (码头) when Uncle Ralph and Dad were repairing boats nearby. The waves from the passing boat made Katie’s stroller shake strongly. “Kee-aah! Kee-aah!” Gulliver made the loudest cry. Dad and uncle rushed to Katie and stopped the stroller from falling into the water. They kept a close eye at Katie after that. Another summer Katie was three years old, she liked to touch everything. But Dad didn’t watch her every minute when she tried to catch small ducks around or fish from water. “Kee-aah! Kee-aah!” The gull’s cry brought Dad back in time. He stopped Katie as she tried to follow the small ducks running towards water. Several summers passed, and Gulliver continued to call out as Katie tried new things.
This summer Katie did the usual by-the-sea things she’d learned to do. One day, she rowed a boat out but was trapped on a rock by a storm. As she looked up and tried to catch the last warmth of the sunshine through dark clouds, she saw a single white feather. A gull feather? She searched the sky for an answer. Putting her arms around knees, she closed eyes to hold in the tears (眼泪). “Kee-aah! Kee-aah!” Katie sat up. “Katie! Katie!” Soon, Dad and Uncle Ralph appeared. “How lucky! We heard Gulliver as we came around the rocks,” Uncle Ralph said, “At least… it sounded like him. Strange, he was nowhere in sight.” Katie remembered the feather. “I thought I heard him, too.”
—Adapted from the story by Gillian Richardson
16.Katie took a camera to the harbour in order to take a picture of ________.
    A.Gulliver B.Ernest C.sparrows D.boats

(2023·山东济南·统考中考真题)Warming temperatures and shorter winters might sound like the end of snow days. However, rising temperatures may actually cause snowstorms to dump more snow, says David Robinson. He is a professor at a university in New Jersey. He studies climate (气候) change.
Temperature change is one of the greatest in Earth’s climate change over a long period of time. It can happen naturally or because of human activities, such as burning gas and coal. Burning these fuels produces carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) and other pollutants into the atmosphere, which hold heat in the atmosphere, leading to warmer global temperatures over time.
But how could warmer temperatures lead to more snow? To get snow, you need moisture (水汽) and freezing temperatures (0℃ or less), says Robinson. Without moisture in the air, there is no precipitation (rain or snow). Robinson says there are signs that snowstorms are becoming stronger. This is because of this connection between moisture and precipitation.
“The warmer the air becomes, the more moisture it holds. So, if it’s warming and still cold enough to snow, you can get more snow,” Robinson says.
Of the 10 biggest snowfalls in D.C. region, five happened in the past 25 years, according to the NWS. During that same time period, average winter temperatures in D.C. increased. In 1996, the average winter temperature was 1.8℃. In 2020, it was 6℃.
Weather experts suggest that rising temperatures may make winter shorter and less cold. But for now, the snow is still falling. One day, winter might not have any days below the freezing temperature. Once temperatures stay above freezing, snowstorms become rain. Until then, we might continue to see strong storms.
According to Robinson, that time could come sooner than we think. He says, “When we look back, years from now, we may see that this was the breaking point.”
20.What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.How Earth’s climate changes. B.What causes rising temperatures.
C.What produces carbon dioxide. D.How pollution influences climate.
21.What will the warming temperatures cause according to the text?
    A.Less coal. B.Drier weather.
    C.Longer winters. D.Stronger snowstorms.
22.What is the purpose of paragraph 5?
    A.To introduce D.C.
B.To report the biggest 10 snowstorms.
    C.To support Robinson’s ideas.
D.To show the increase of temperatures.
23.What does Robinson think of the future warming temperatures?
    A.Impossible. B.Serious. C.Meaningless. D.Amazing.
24.Where is the text probably taken from?

Have you ever seen a bee fly busily? Do you think the bee is just flying around? Actually, the bee is hard at work.
Bees spend a lot of time looking for food. But not all the bees in the hive(蜂巢) have this work. Bees can be divided into three kinds—a queen bee, drones(雄蜂), and worker bees. The queen bee is very important. She is the mother of all the bees that live in the hive. Worker bees do all the other work in the hive. Besides looking for food, they make and clean the hive. They also take care of the queen and protect her.
Bees make dance-like movements inside the hive to send messages about food. They use different movements to give different kinds of information. They tell where food can be found and how far away it is from the hive. Bees can even share how much food there is and how good it is.
And surprisingly, a new research has found that a group of bees could generate an amazing amount of electricity by beating their wings more than 200 times per second. And the amount of electricity could reach 100 to 1,000 V(伏). That’s eight times greater than the electricity a storm cloud can produce.
Scientists found that the denser(密集的) the cloud of bees is, the bigger the electrical field is. Based on these findings, the team recorded that bees—which group in huge, dense clouds—could have an influence similar to that of a storm. Further research is needed to find out how electricity influences the bees and their environment.

(2023·河北唐山·统考二模)Have you ever been in a class when all the students are kept in at lunchtime just because two or three students won’t stop talking? The teacher gets irate and suddenly everyone is in trouble instead of just the students who caused the problem. This is called “collective (集体的) punishment” and many students in Australia want it stopped in schools.
Some say that collective punishment teaches young people that their behavior has an effect on other people. As most of us want to be liked and “fit in” (顺应), all students then feel that they have to behave well.
Others say that this type of punishment causes students to feel angry with the students who are not behaving well. It destroys trust and good relationships between classmates.
But collective punishment can harm students who want to do the right thing. Teachers at my school say that some students become too disappointed to come to school. They are unhappy because their class gets class detention (课后留校) most days and is known as the “bad group”.
A parent at this same school believes that this type of punishment is useful because it helps teachers to know which students are not behaving well. She thinks that when a class knows they may be given a detention, the students who were doing the wrong thing will own up (承认).
Our school’s psychologist (心理学家), Miriam Koch, says that students who have learning difficulties and keep making trouble in classrooms often have poor social skills. Her opinion is that collective punishment can keep these students away from their classmates. She believes that it is best for teachers to use group rewards (奖励) and clear rules for students behavior to help develop teamwork.
26.What does the underlined word “irate” mean?
    A.Silent. B.Angry. C.Lost. D.Worried.
27.In what way is collective punishment good?
A.It gets students to work harder. B.It brings students hearts closer.
C.It helps keep order in the classroom. D.It helps form good teacher-student relationships.
28.How can collective punishment harm students who want to do the right thing?
A.They feel unloved. B.They copy bad behavior.
C.They hate to go to school. D.They avoid seeing people
29.Why does the parent find collective punishment useful?
A.It helps teachers to find troublemakers.
B.It makes students tell on one another.
C.It allows students to know one another better.
D.It gets teachers to help badly-behaved students.
30.What does Miriam Koch think of troublemakers in a classroom?
A.They want to get rewards. B.They have good social skills.
C.They are not clear about rules. D.They may get worse after collective punishment.
