But the parents are prud that they were able t help Mike with his scial skills alng with his intellectual skills. Melissa tld CNBC that peple expected “Yung Sheldn” befre they met her sn. Yung Sheldn is a televisin shw abut a child talent wh is an indr man and lacks scial skills. “But nce they talk t Mike, they understand that he’s just a nrmal 14-year-ld that happens t be able t d amazing things,” said Melissa.
Mark and Melissa gt t knw abut their child’s intelligence when he entered preschl. A child psychlgist tld them that their sn wuld need a different curse t supprt his fast develpment. Many parents aren’t cmfrtable with putting their children with 18-year-lds, but Mike’s parents saw the value in letting their child g thrugh it. “I wanted him t be scial and be able t deal with all the different persnalities in the classrms with lder children,” said Melissa.
The parents shared that they were able t d this by letting Mike find his wn vice and put it t use. “We let him rder fd when he’s 3 r 4 frm the waiter r waitress and intrduce himself t peple. Thse kinds f things are dne t encurage him t engage with everyne else and be mre cmfrtable talking t thers utside f ur envirnment,” said Melissa.

A gd vegan milk (纯素奶) needs t lk like milk and taste like milk, whether it cntains fat r nt. Vegan milk is nly ne example in the grwing types f plant-based alternatives (替代品) t animal prducts, such as meat, cheese, eggs and fish. Burger King and McDnald’s sell vegan pies. Last year the wrld’s largest prducer f canned tuna, Thai Unin, began t sell a plant-based prduct. Grwing sales shw the grwing taste fr this type f fd, which means alternative prteins have cme a lng way since 1980s.
Prducing techniques have been imprved, resulting in better prducts and lwer prices f them, which meet the needs f a grwing number f peple. Sme vegetarians say n t meat, but yes t fish. Sme peple are trying t cut fat fr health reasns. Fitness lvers want t develp muscular mass and strength withut building up fat. Cncerns abut animal rights and greenhuse gas frm raising livestck (家畜) are driving the envirnmentalists t limit their intake f animal-based prteins. As is reprted, prducing a gram f beef gives ff 25 times the amunt f greenhuse gas as prducing a gram f tfu.
Hwever, plant-based prteins are a tugh sell in giant markets like India, where diets are already plant-rich, r Nigeria, where meat-eating is a sign f being rich. That limits their glbal ppularity. What’s mre, animal prducts, including milk and meat, are better fr children’s bne develpment, thugh lab-grwn meat and dairy are becming mre nutritius.
All this suggests that alternative prteins have far t g t replace the animal kind. Plant-based fds may n lnger be nly a side dish in diets, but their makers’ place as the main dish is anther matter.
    28. Why des the authr mentin vegan milk in the first paragraph?
    A. T encurage a healthy diet.
    B. T shw peple’s grwing taste.
    C. T stress the imprtance f milk.
    D. T intrduce the tpic f the passage.
    29. What’s the main idea f Paragraph 2?
    A. Ways t meet the needs f peple.
    B. Benefits f animal-based prducts.
    C. Results f imprved prducing techniques.
    D. Reasns fr chsing plant-based prducts.
    30. Why are plant-based prducts unppular in India?
    A. Indian Diets are rich in plant.
    B. Eating meat means being rich.
    C. Plant-based prducts are prduced in labs.
    D. Plant-based prducts are bad fr children.
    31. What’s the authr’s attitude twards plant-based prteins?
    A. Supprtive.B. Dubtful.C. Objective.D. Unclear.
    D
Sixteen miles ff the cast f nrthern Sctland, the future f green energy is taking shape. The five giant turbines (涡轮机) f the Hywind Sctland wind farm lk much like any ther ff-shre wind prject, except ne majr difference — they’re flating.

The reasns fr this can be listed as fllws. Firstly, unlike fixed units, flating turbines can perate in deep waters far frm the shreline, where winds tend t be strnger. Secndly, it can serve ffshre areas that are t deep fr bttm-fixed turbines. “In places like Krea, Japan and Califrnia, yu can nly manage a certain amunt f ffshre wind, r maybe even nne at all, s flating turbines are the nly ptin in the lnger term,” explains Henrik Steisdal, a Danish inventr at the frefrnt f flating wind innvatin.
While flating turbines vercme sme f the prblems that make ffshre wind farms in deep waters impssible, there are still challenges that have t be vercme. There are sme cncerns abut what effect flating wind turbines might have n the sea envirnment. The price f flating wind prjects is als still high — almst twice as much as that f the bttm-fixed ffshre nes. Anther prblem is hw t avid the risk f a system breakdwn when the wind is blwing t hard.
    32. What d the Hywind’s turbines and the traditinal turbines have in cmmn?
    A. They are fixed. B. They use wind.
    C. They are flating. D. They use waves.
    33. What’s NOT the reasn fr building flating turbines?
    A. It ffers a picture f the future.
    B. Winds are strnger in deep waters.
    C. It helps meet the net zer carbn emissin targets.
    D. It is difficult t fix turbines in deep ffshre areas.
    34. What will pssibly be talked abut in the fllwing paragraph?
    A. Slutins t the prblems.
    B. Functins f the wind pwer.
    C. Advantages f the flating prject.
    D. Opinins n the flating turbines.
    35. Which f the fllwing is a suitable title fr the text?
    A. Wind Prjects — a Greener Wrld
    B. Wind Prjects — a Practical Slutin
    C. Flating Turbines — a Chice fr the Future
    D. Flating Turbines — a Mre Efficient Wrld
