What if yu culd use yur clthes t brwse the internet and send messages? A “digital clth” created by researchers at Fudan University in Shanghai is making this a reality.
Research n a new type f flexible textile (织物) with a display system that has multiple applicatins was published in the jurnal Nature n March 10.
A user can read messages, reply and even navigate n his sleeve, as shwn in a vide prduced by the team. The team claimed that the material is als cmfrtable t wear. “Clthes wven with this new material can clsely fllw the irregular utline f the human bdy and are as light and breathable as rdinary textiles, ensuring cmfrt,” said Peng Huisheng, leader f the team. The textile can als endure repeated flding and stretching. “Its brightness and stability remained almst unchanged after having been washed in a washing machine 500 times,” said Peng.
Behind the magical textile is ten years f hard wrk by Peng and his team. The research team created tw functinal fibers: a silver-plated thread that can light up, and a kind f thread that cnducts electricity. Accrding t The Paper, the biggest challenge lies in building prgrammable arrays (排列) f twinkling dts n the sft fibers with diameters(直径) ranging frm tens t hundreds f micrns. Inspired by the weaving prcess, Peng’s team fund a slutin by trial and errr: the interweaving (交织) f the crss threads can naturally frm a dt array similar t the array n a digital display screen.
Peng believes that the new clth culd be used fr many things. Fr example, it culd help peple with language barriers r disabilities better cmmunicate. In ne test, Peng’s team mnitred brainwaves frm vlunteers wh had either been playing a game r relaxing. The waves were then translated int messages as “anxius” r “relaxed” and shwn n the clth. This culd help hearing-impaired peple “talk” t each ther in the future.

Tw friends have an argument that breaks up their friendship frever, even thugh neither ne can remember hw the whle thing gt started. Such sad events happen ver and ver in high schls acrss the cuntry. In fact, accrding t an fficial reprt n yuth vilence, "In ur cuntry tday, the greatest threat t the lives f children and adlescents is nt disease r starvatin r abandnment, but the terrible reality f vilence". Given that this is the case, why aren't students taught t manage cnflict the way they are taught t slve math prblems, drive cars, r stay physically fit?
First f all, students need t realize that cnflict is unavidable. A reprt n vilence amng middle schl and high schl students indicates that mst vilent incidents between students begin with a relatively minr insult (侮辱). Fr example, a fight culd start ver the fact that ne student eats a peanut butter sandwich each lunchtime. Laughter ver the sandwich can lead t insults, which in turn can lead t vilence. The prblem isn't in the sandwich, but in the way students deal with the cnflict.
Once students recgnize that cnflict is unavidable, they can practice the glden rule f cnflict reslutin stay calm. Once the student feels calmer, he r she shuld chse wrds that will calm the ther persn dwn as well. Rude wrds, name-calling, and accusatin nly add fuel t the emtinal fir. On the ther hand, sft wrds spken at a nrmal sund level can put ut the fire befre it expldes ut f cntrl.
After bth sides have calmed dwn, they can use anther key strategy fr cnflict reslutin; listening. Listening allws the tw sides t understand each ther. One persn shuld describe his r her side, and the ther persn shuld listen withut interrupting. Afterward, the listener can ask nn-threatening questins t clarify the speaker’s psitin. Then the tw peple shuld change rles.
Finally, students need f. cnsider what they are hearing. This desn’t mean trying t figure ut what's wrng with the ther persn. It means understanding what the real issue is and what bth sides are trying t accmplish. Fr example, a shuting match ver a peanut butter sandwich might happen because ne persn thinks the ther persn is unwilling t try new things. Students need t ask themselves questins such as these: Hw did this start? What d I really want? What am I afraid f? As the issue becmes clearer, the cnflict ften simply becmes smaller. Even if it desn't, careful thught helps bth sides figure ut a mutual slutin.
There will always be cnflict in schls, but that desn’t mean there needs t be vilence. After students in Atlanta started a cnflict reslutin prgram, accrding t Educatrs fr Scial Respnsibility, “64 percent f the teachers reprted less physical vilence in the classrm; 75 percent f the teachers reprted an increase in student cperatin; and 92 percent f the students felt better abut themselves”. Learning t reslve cnflicts can help students deal with friends, teachers, parents, bsses, and cwrkers. In that way, cnflict reslutin is a basic life skill that shuld be taught in schls acrss the cuntry.
66.This article is mainly abut _______.
A.the lives f schl childrenB.the cause f arguments in schls
C.hw t analyze yuth vilenceD.hw t deal with schl cnflicts
67.Frm Paragraph 2 we can learn that ________.
A.vilence is mre likely t ccur at lunchtime
B.a small cnflict can lead t vilence
C.students tend t lse their temper easily
D.the eating habit f a student is ften the cause f a fight
68.Why d students need t ask themselves the questins stated in Paragraph 5?
A.T find ut wh t blame.
B.T get ready t buy new things.
C.T make clear what the real issue is.
D.T figure ut hw t stp the shuting match.
69.After the cnflict reslutin prgram was started in Atlanta, it was fund that ______.
A.there was a decrease in classrm vilence
B.there was less student cperatin in the classrm
C.mre teachers fell better abut themselves in schls
