The first time that I met a blind scientist. I wrked in a prgram fr disabled students interested in pursuing STEM (Science, Technlgy, Engineering, Maths) research. Until that pint, it had never ccurred t me hw blind students were prevented frm receiving science educatin. A recent paper frm Baylr University, led by Katelyn Baumer and Bryan Shaw, was inspired by exactly this prblem.They designed a study t assess whether peple culd learn t recgnize 3D mdels, like thse ften used t teach science, with their muths instead f with their eyes.
