(2023海南海口一模)
N ne in the US has 3D-printed a tw-stry huse befre. But nw three cmpanies are wrking tgether t print the first large,tw-stry huse in the US.
The huse, which is in Hustn,Texas, was designed by a cmpany.Anther cmpany prvided the 3D printer. And a cnstructin cmpany is ding the actual building.Leslie Lk,wh designed the huse, says there are special challenges invlved in printing the tw-stry huse. One f the biggest is the size f the machine needed fr the building. The 3D printer in Hustn is massive. It weighs ver 12 tns.
Ms.Lk says printing the huse will take the massive machine abut 330 hurs. That’s abut eight nrmal wrk weeks. But the team isn’t in a rush.Thugh it’s a tw-year prject, the actual printing didn’t start until last July. The huse is nw abut halfway finished.
“We are nt trying t beat the clck,” says Hikmat Zerbe,wh wrks fr the cnstructin cmpany.Instead, they’re using the huse as a “big labratry” t learn mre abut 3D-printing huses. They want t see hw the cncrete reacts “under different weather cnditins”.
They als want t figure ut hw t make 3D-printing faster and says that currently,3D-printing a huse with cncrete csts mre than building a huse with wd.That’s partly because the technlgy is new. With time ging by,Mr.Zerbe expects the csts f 3D-printed huses t g dwn.He thinks printers will imprve and make it easier t create mre huses quickly.3D-printed cncrete huses are strnger and hld up better in serius strms than huse built with wd.This can save mney in the lng run.Since the machine is ding the building, fewer wrkers are needed, which als saves mney.
Besides, with 3D-printing,it’s easy t make each huse different frm ther huses. These kinds f changes can apply t almst any tiling.Hikmat Zerbe says that means in the future, each huse culd be created specially fr its wner.

(2023河北沧州二模)
Scientists have learned mre abut the inner wrkings f the Earth by studying the way waves frm earthquakes travel thrugh the planet’s center. The results suggest that the Earth’s inner cre may be starting t spin mre slwly than the Earth.
The Earth’s cre has tw parts:the uter cre and the inner cre.Bth f these are made mainly f the metals—irn and nickel. The uter cre is liquid. But the inner cre is a slid ball held in this liquid almst like the ylk(蛋黄) in an egg.
Scientists suspected fr a lng time that the inner cre might be spinning slightly differently frm the way the Earth spins.
In the 1990s,tw scientists,Paul Richards and Xiadng Sng,studied the inner cre by lking at the waves frm earthquakes that travel thrugh the center f the Earth. They fcused n grups and pairs f waves frm earthquakes that naturally repeat. If the inner cre was spinning exactly with the Earth, each wave f the pair shuld have taken the same time t pass thrugh the Earth.Instead, sme mved faster than thers. This was because they were hitting different parts f the inner cre as it spun.Their studies revealed that the inner cre was spinning in the same directin as the Earth, but slightly faster.
Nw Dr.Sng and Yi Yang—anther scientist wh studies the Earth—say they’ve used the same methd t learn that the Earth’s inner cre may be starting t spin slwer than the Earth. The researchers studied earthquake wave pairs frm Alaska, ging all the way back t 1964.They nticed that the inner cre’s spin als seemed t change speed in the early 1970s.The scientists say that the inner cre may have a pattern f speeding up and slwing dwn every 70 years r s.
Nt everyne agrees. Many scientists wh study the Earth say mre infrmatin needed t figure ut what is really ging n.
9.Whyisaneggmentinedinthesecndparagraph?
A.T explain hw the Earth’s cre mves.
B.T shw the imprtance f the inner cre.
C.T illustrate the cmpsitin f the uter cre.
D.T help picture the structure f the Earth’s cre.
10.What did the scientists discver abut the inner cre in the 1990s?
A.It sent ut earthquake waves.
B.It changed speed repeatedly.
C.It mved exactly with the Earth.
D.It mved a little faster than the Earth.
11.Whatdestheauthrsayabutthestudyresult?
A.It is accurate and reliable.
