Artificial intelligence helps teachers identify which f their students have learning difficulties, accrding t a new study.

Trainee teachers were asked t assess fictinalized students fr ptential learning difficulties, based n evidence including examples f their wrk, schl behavir recrds and written texts f cnversatins with parents.Half f the trainees received the “expert slutin”,typical f the material given t trainee teachers, while the ther half received AI-generated feedback n their apprach, highlighting where they culd imprve. The trainees then cmpleted similar fllw-up assessments, and were graded bth n the accuracy f their diagnses(诊断) and n hw well they had used the evidence.Trainees wh received the AI feedback scred significantly higher than thse wh wrked with the pre-written expert slutins.
While the researchers said this des nt mean AI is preferable t ne-t-ne feedback frm a skilled expert, this is nt always available fr trainee teachers.“We are nt arguing that AI shuld replace teacher-educatrs:new teachers still need expert guidance n hw t recgnize learning difficulties in the first place,” said Dr Michael Sailer.“It des seem, hwever, that AI-generated feedback helped these trainees t fcus n what they really needed t learn. When persnal feedback is nt readily available,it culd be an effective substitute(代替物).”
