    Artificial intelligence helps teachers identify which f their students have learning difficulties,accrding t a new study.
    Teachers make mre accurate assessments f learning difficulties amng their students if they are given AI-generated feedback(反馈) rather than an “expert slutin” written by a qualified prfessinal.Researchers believe that because the AI analyzed the teacher’s wn wrk,it’s easier fr the teacher t understand than a “mdel answer” prepared befrehand.
    “Teachers play a critical rle in recgnizing the signs f disrders and learning difficulties in pupils and referring them t specialists,” said Riikka Hfmann.“Unfrtunately,many f them feel that they have nt had sufficient pprtunity t practice these skills.AI culd prvide an extra level f individualized feedback t help them develp these essential cmpetences.”
    Trainee teachers were asked t assess fictinalized students fr ptential learning difficulties,based n evidence including examples f their wrk,schl behavir recrds and written texts f cnversatins with parents.Half f the trainees received the “expert slutin”,typical f the material given t trainee teachers,while the ther half received AI-generated feedback n their apprach,highlighting where they culd imprve.The trainees then cmpleted similar fllw-up assessments,and were graded bth n the accuracy f their diagnses(诊断) and n hw well they had used the evidence.Trainees wh received the AI feedback scred significantly higher than thse wh wrked with the pre-written expert slutins.
    While the researchers said this des nt mean AI is preferable t ne-t-ne feedback frm a skilled expert,this is nt always available fr trainee teachers.“We are nt arguing that AI shuld replace teacher-educatrs:new teachers still need expert guidance n hw t recgnize learning difficulties in the first place,” said Dr Michael Sailer.“It des seem,hwever,that AI-generated feedback helped these trainees t fcus n what they really needed t learn.When persnal feedback is nt readily available,it culd be an effective substitute(代替物).”
