    Yuan Lngping was brn in 1930 in Beijing. When he was 20 years ld, he studied in Suthwest Agricultural Cllege. He finished his studies after three years and became a teacher.
    In 1964, Yuan Lngping made a special study f rice after natural disasters caused great damage t China’s rice harvest. He wanted t find a new, strnger kind f rice. He develped his new kind f rice in 1974.
    In the 1980s, he travelled arund the wrld and gave advice abut grwing rice t many peple. In 2004, he wn the Wrld Fd Prize fr his wrk. Yuan Lngping’s new rice has helped many cuntries f the wrld grw mre rice than befre. S he is called “The Father f Rice”. He has saved many peple frm hunger, and that is why he is a her.
