Music festivals are highly ppular events during the summer mnths, attracting thusands f festival-gers wh camp n-site. Hwever, the questin arises as t whether the tents left behind can be recycled.
While sme festival rganizers claim that they recycle the tents, the answer is nt s straightfrward. Every year, thusands f tents are abandned (拋弃)at festivals, and it’s nt just pst-festival laziness r pr weather that is t blame. Accrding t a recent survey, many festival-gers leave their tents behind because they believe they will be dnated t charities. But unfrtunately, this is nly wishful thinking.
Matt Wedge, the directr f Festival Waste Reclamatin & Distributin, says that the number f tents left behind is increasing, estimating that arund 20% f the tents at this year’s Leeds Festival were abandned, which amunted t abut 7,000 tents. He adds that Reading and Leicester festivals are usually just as bad but twice as big, meaning that 14,000 tents culd have been abandned there.
In terms f addressing this prblem, ne ppular idea is t emply a tent depsit scheme (保证金计划). Under this scheme, festival-gers wuld pay a depsit t bring their tent t the festival, which wuld be returned t them if they take their tent hme. “A similar thing happens with litter. Sme festivals make attendees pay a £10 ‘ec bnd’, which will be returned t them if they fill up a bag f rubbish and hand it in at the end f the festival,” he adds.
The shcking images f abandned tents are mre than just a cmment n the envirnmental impacts f the festival itself. They are in fact a dramatic symbl f ur thrwaway culture. Just as images f clean fields at Glastnbury represent a refreshing sign f hpe fr what culd be, the ultimate (最后的) message is t make it a habit t take yur tent hme at least. It’s the best thing peple can d.
28. Why are tents left behind after music festivals accrding t the recent survey?

30. What des Paragraph 4 fcus n?

While vertical (垂直的) farming f plants in limited ce has been arund fr sme time, new research lking int the “vertical farming f seafd” is being develped by Brderick Huse.
As part f his PhD prject at the University f Cambridge, Brderick is lking at farming bivalves (双壳贝) within city bundaries. “In terms f sustainable (可持续的) fd ptins, and frm a fd security standpint, being able t expand bivalve farming frm the cast int cities means yu have a safe envirnment t prduce a highly nutritius and micrnutrient rich surce f fd,” says Brderick.

T help translate his research int the business wrld, Brderick has been supprted by the EnterpriseTECH and EnterpriseTECH STAR prgrammes at the CS Entrepreneurship Centre. “CS has been a fantastic resurce and cmmunity. The business ecsystem here has prvided imprtant tls in a cnstructive and infrmed way t help ensure my PhD research has a psitive rle in shaping the future f glbal fd security,” Brderick says.
32. Accrding t the text, what is ne f the biggest challenges related t urban aquaculture?

C. Overppulatin in cities.D. Heavy reliance n traditins.
33. What des the underlined wrd “accmplished” mean in Paragraph 4?
A. Realized.B. Oppsed.C. Declined.D. Revised.
34. What advantage is assciated with repurpsing existing buildings fr bivalve farming?
A. Reductin in carbn emissins.B. Greater dependence n transprtatin.
C. Increased heavy metal purificatin.D. Decreased reliance n flwing systems.
35. What can we infer frm the last paragraph?
A. This study lacks financial supprt.
B. The utlk f the research lks prmising.
C. The research is still up against many barriers.
D. The research has guaranteed the fd security glbally.
