[2023·成都市高三检测]Frests have a crucial rle in cling Earth's surface by absrbing CO2 like a spnge (海绵). But nly twthirds f their cling pwer cmes frm their ability t suck in CO2 and stre it, accrding t a study by Debrah Lawrence, an envirnmental scientist. The ther nethird cmes frm the biphysical effects—their ability t create cluds, dampen the air and release cling chemicals.
“Trees in the frests prvide shade, but they als dampen the air by pulling water frm the grund and releasing it frm their leaves, which helps t cl the surrunding area in a way similar t sweating,” Lawrence says.
This,__in turn, creates the right cnditins fr cluds, which, like snw and ice in the Arctic, can reflect sunlight higher int the atmsphere and further cl the surrundings. Trees als release rganic cmpunds that react with ther chemicals in the atmsphere t smetimes create a net cling effect.
T quantify (量化) these effects,Lawrence and her clleagues cmpared hw the varius effects f frests arund the wrld feed int the climate system, breaking dwn their cntributins in ranges f ten degrees f latitude (纬度). The researchers fund that the wrld's frests cl the surface f the planet by arund 0.5℃ because f biphysical effects alne.
“Threats t rainfrests are dangerus nt nly fr the glbal climate, but fr cmmunities that are clse t the frests,” Lawrence says. She and her clleagues fund that the cling caused by biphysical effects was especially significant lcally. “Having a rainfrest nearby can help t prtect an area's agriculture and cities frm heatwaves,” Lawrence says. “Every tenth f a degree matters in limiting extreme weather. And where yu have frests, the extreme weather events are minimized.”
This study cnfirms that frests have ther significant ways f affecting the climate system, giving us mre reasns why defrestatin is bad fr the climate. It culd enable scientists t imprve their climate mdels, while helping gvernments t wrk ut better cnservatin and climate strategies.
5.What des the underlined wrd “This” in Paragraph 3 refer t?
A.The tree leaves in frests. B.The shade prvided by trees.
C.The surrunding area in frests. D.The water circulatin dne by trees.
6.Hw did Lawrence quantify the biphysical effects f frests?
    A.By remving sme ther factrs.
B.By cmparing data f different times.
    C.By studying the cntributins separately.
D.By measuring the temperature in different places.
    7.What is the significance f Lawrence's study?
A.It develps a new climate mdel.
B.It matters in limiting extreme weather.
C.It highlights the dangers f defrestatin.
D.It prvides a scientific basis fr cnservatin effrts.
8.What's the best title f the text?
A.Frests: Mre Than a Carbn Spnge B.Frests: The Disappearing Green Lung
C.Frests: Majr Players in Carbn Cycles D.Frests: Guardians f Lcal Cmmunities
    (A)
根据第四段中的“the museum asked the public t prvide infrmatin abut the painting”可知,该博物馆向公众征集信息,从而确定画作的主人,故A项正确。
根据倒数第二段中Michel Draguet所说的“I think it's really imprtant fr the museum t shw that we have ethics (道德)”可知,Michel Draguet认为归还画作的行为是正确的,是遵循道德的,故D项正确。
根据第二段中的“Blumenstilleben (StillLifewithFlwers) painted in 1913 by German artist Lvis Crinth”和第三段中的“After the war, the painting f pink flwers in a blue vase was exhibited in Ryal Museums f Fine Arts f Belgium”以及语境可以推断,Blumenstilleben就是那幅关于装在花瓶里的花的画作,故A项正确。
根据第二段中的“they als dampen the air by pulling water frm the grund and releasing it frm their leaves, which helps t cl the surrunding area in a way similar t sweating”可知,它们也通过从地面吸水并从叶子中释放水分来使空气湿润,这有助于周围地区降温,类似于出汗。
根据第四段中的“T quantify (量化) these effects, Lawrence and her clleagues cmpared hw the varius effects f frests arund the wrld feed int the climate system, breaking dwn their cntributins in ranges f ten degrees f latitude (纬度)”可知,Lawrence是通过单独研究森林的贡献来量化森林的生物物理效应的。故选C。
根据第五段中的“She and her clleagues fund that the cling caused by biphysical effects was especially significant lcally”“Having a rainfrest nearby can help t prtect an area's agriculture and cities frm heatwaves”及最后一段的内容可知,Lawrence的研究的意义在于它为保护工作提供了科学依据。故选D。
由此可知,A项“Frests: Mre Than a Carbn Spnge”(森林:不仅仅是一块碳海绵)最适合作本文标题。
