It is difficult fr a teacher t decide whether t allw students t listen t music in the classrm. Every time students need t write an essay r wrk n a prblem, they say, “Can I put my headphnes n? I think better that way.” But is that really true? Des music help cncentrate?
Research ffers little t back up the idea that listening t music imprves cncentratin. In ne small study, 133 students perfrmed reading tasks while listening t either light music, hip hp, r n music at all. Students wh perfrmed the reading tasks in silence scred the highest. Music with a higher intensity (强度) like hip hp was mre distracting and had a greater negative effect n task perfrmance and cncentratin.
