Scientists are trying t understand the mving f glacier(冰川) mice. The glacier mice manage t travel tgether in ways that scientists still can’t explain.
Glaciers have lts f ice and snw. Because glaciers are s icy, it’s very hard fr things t live n them. But glacier mice can d this.
Of curse, glacier mice aren’t mice. They’re rund balls f mss(苔藓) grwing t the size f a tennis ball. They’are usually fund in grups near small rcks n the surface f sme icy glaciers. The first scientist wh described them was frm Iceland, and he called them “jkla-mys”.
Glacier mice shw several perplexities t scientists. Hw d they live? Why are they rund? Hw d they mve? And, especially, hw d they mve tgether?
In 2009, scientists began an experiment n glacier mice. They tagged 30 f the mss balls, and put a small thing inside allwing them t knw the mving f the mice. They learned that the mice traveled abut 2.5 centimeters a day. The glacier mice seemed t mve in grups. They mved abut the same distance in the same directin, and at abut the same speed--almst like a grup f animals.
