Many peple dream f becming a prgrammer fr a leading tech cmpany, as such wrk can secure a high salary that is envied by many. Hwever, it may als mean having rutinely t accept vertime wrk.
Recently, a prgrammer created a prject called “996.ICU” n github.cm, the well-knwn cde-sharing website. The prject criticized the “996 wrk schedule” where emplyees wrk frm 9 am t 9 pm, 6 days a week, with the prspect f ending up in an intensive care unit (ICU).
The wrk schedule is cmmn amng Chinese tech cmpanies. On the website, many prgrammers wrking fr China's tech cmpanies shared evidence shwing that their cmpanies asked them t wrk the lng hurs. Amng them were majr names like e-cmmerce leaders Alibaba and JD.cm, as well as telecms equipment manufacturer Huawei.
Several bsses f tech cmpanies have defended “996” as a kind f wrk culture. Jack Ma, funder f Alibaba, said it's “a huge blessing” fr yung wrkers t wrk “996”. “If yu dn't d '996' when yu're yung, when will yu?” Ma said, accrding t a pst n Alibaba's WeChat accunt. “If yu dn't invest mre time and energy than thers, hw will yu achieve the success yu want?”

Meanwhile, Cui Zhendng, a lawyer with the Yiqian Law Firm, said that it is illegal fr a cmpany t intrduce a cmpulsry “996” wrk schedule fr emplyees, since the Labr Law clearly states that the wrking hurs f an emplyee shuld nt exceed an average f eight hurs daily, r 44 hurs a week. Emplyers may extend wrking hurs after cnsultatin with an emplyee, but shall nt exceed three hurs a day r 36 hurs a mnth.

“When resrting t the legal system fr prtectin, there is a price t pay: time, mney and the risk f lsing yur jb, therefre they turn t cyberspace,” Jiang Ying, aprfessr f law said.

Since App Stre was set up, it has been selling cnsumers ne simple thing: chice. Whether yu wanted t play games, read the news, r d a thusand ther things, there was smething fr whatever yu desired.
Then smething funny happened. Lgging int the App Stre tday is like ging int a shpping mall with nly a cupn(优惠券) fr ne thing: There's s much chice; it might be easier t give up than t chse.
lt isn't just cnsumers wh are burdened, thugh. T much cntent f all kinds als has ecnmic effects. When cuntless chices are available, it causes pressure, pushing prices dwn and driving us a bit crazy.
S what is the way frward? Less chice itself may be a sensible strategy. There are already signs that this is happening. Firstly cntent cmpanies are lking t prevent their fferings frm getting lst in the tns f stuff. Mst bvius is Disney, which is planning t pen its wn streaming service next year. The pint is t narrw the fcus s that thse seeking Disney cartns will have ne place t g, rather than being arund varius services.
Yet if that represents a careful first step, there are mre extreme ptins t. Cnsider the idea f a wine club: frm tens f thusands f bttles each year, subscribers pay smene t select the mst interesting nes. Perhaps what cmes next fr digital cntent is similar—carefully selected fferings frm trusted surces that put chices in the hands f custmers in rder t get rid f the anxiety f chsing.
Up t nw, t much chice in digital media has nly ne slutin: the algrithm (运算法则). But we've seen the truble with algrithms n Yu Tube. They feed yu nly what yu've already said yu like, nt things yu may nt knw yu're int. Wrse, they have a tendency t serve up disturbing cntent. The way frward can't simply be mre r better algrithms.
Instead, it's time fr digital cmpanies t start thinking abut hw t put limits n things: n hw much we can use a device, r what we are available t chse frm. As we mve further int the digital revlutin, what peple ask fr is clear: Less.
28.Faced with t much chice, cnsumers are mre likely t__________.
    A. chse carefullyB. feel anxiusC. use a cupnD. push dwn prices
    29. What's the purpse f mentining the "wine club" in paragraph 5?
    A. T teach custmers hw t chse a bttle f wine wisely.
    B. T shw digital cmpanies hw t narrw custmers' fcus.
    C. T demnstrate what sme custmers' extreme ptins are.
    D. T save custmers frm getting lst in the chice f the APP Stre.
    30. What can we infer frm the passage?
    A. In rder t sell chice better, digital cmpanies shuld ffer less.
    B. Yu Tube tends t feed peple what they are pssibly interested in.
    C. Algrithms can help cnsumers and cmpanies make better chices.
    D. Thse seeking Disney cartns have easy and quick access t them.
31.What d we knw abut the algrithm?
    A. It manages t ffer what cnsumers will pssibly like
    B. It helps t remve disturbing cntent frm digital media
    C. It ffers cnsumers things based n what they’ve said they like
    D. It’ll slve the prblem f having t much chice
    D
British researchers say they have created an artificial intelligence (AI) mdel that is highly effective at predicting rainfall within the next 90 minutes.
The mdel was built by scientists at a research cmpany DeepMind in Lndn. The scientists said their mdel aims t create predictive “mvies” f immediate weather patterns. They said that, unlike ther systems, theirs can accurately capture large-scale events, as well as several different rain pssibilities. This cmbinatin permits “rainfall uncertainties” t be deeply explred.
During the testing prcess, the team said the mdel shwed “statistically(统计上地) significant” imprvements in these areas cmpared t cmpeting methds. In additin, the researchers reprted that a grup f mre than 50 weather experts frm the Met Office rated(评估) the AI mdel t be mre accurate and useful in 89 percent f cases than existing frecasting systems.
Despite the study results, researchers admitted that the mdel still has limitatins. They said “mre wrk is needed t imprve the accuracy f lng-term predictins and the accuracy n rare and intense events.” The team said it will nw centre n develping new methds t test and measure the mdel’s perfrmance. It will als wrk t create mre specialised systems t perate in real-wrld cnditins.

D.The mdel has been used in real-wrld cnditins.
33.What is Paragraph 3 mainly abut?
    A.The difficulty f accurate nwcasting.
B.The relatinship between weather frecasting and the ecnmy.
C.The necessity f building the new AI mdel.
D.The principles f the new AI mdel.
34.Why des the writer mentin the weather experts frm the Met Office in Paragraph 4?
A.T prve the advantage f the new mdel. B.T cmpare the new mdel with the ld systems.
C.T explain the rule f weather frecasting. D.T shw hw the existing system wrks.
35.Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the passage?
    A.Existing Frecasting Systems Need Imprving
B.AI Predicts Immediate Rainfall Better than Existing Systems
    C.New Explratins in Weather Predictins
