The bk, Deep Wrk, by Cal Newprt, which is meant t advcate deep wrk, cnsists f the
philsphical basis f deep wrk and why it wrks, and then t teach yu hw t lead a deep life if yu realize it is a gd life.
Deep wrk refers t prfessinal activities perfrmed in a state f undisturbed cncentratin that
push yur cgnitive (认知的) abilities t their limit. These effrts create new value, imprve yur
skill and are hard t cpy. The ability t perfrm deep wrk is becming increasingly rare and at
exactly the same time it is becming increasingly valuable in ur ecnmy. As a result, the few wh
develp the skill, and make it the central part f their wrking life, will succeed. A deep life is a gd
life, any way yu lk at it. Wh yu are, what yu think, feel, and d, what yu lve-? is the sum f what yu fcus n.
Main elements f intentinal practice f deep wrk are identified as fllws: yur attentin is
fcused tightly n a specific skill yu’re trying t imprve r an idea yu are trying t master; yu receive feedback s yu can crrect yur apprach t keep yur attentin exactly where it’s
    prductive.
T succeed with deep wrk yu must learn t feel cmfrtable resisting disturbing stimuli. Since
yu have a limited amunt f willpwer that is decreasing as yu use it, the easiest way t cnsistently
start deep wrk sessins is t transfrm them int a simple regular habit. T master the art f deep
wrk, therefre, yu must take back cntrl f yur time and attentin frm the many activities that
    attempt t steal them.
The ability t cncentrate is a skill that gets valuable things dne. If yu’re struggling t activate
yur mind t its fullest capacity t create things that matter, then yu’ll discver depth generates a life
    rich with prductivity and meaning.
    28. What is the bk aimed at?
    A. Teaching cncentrating skills. B.Advcating cncentrated wrk.
    C. Slving philsphical prblems. D. Encuraging intentinal practice.
    29. What is paragraph 2 f the text mainly abut?

Curisity is a familiar feeling amng peple. But as sn as we examine that feeling, curisity
reveals itself t be a cmplex emtin indeed. Just ask yurself: Is curisity a psitive feeling r a
negative feeling? Is it mre like frustratin r mre like hpe? Is it a painful reminder f what we dn’t
(yet) knw, r an exciting signal twards what we might sn discver?
Actually, curisity can be all f these things. But the bject f curisity’s desire is infrmatin.
Of curse, nt all feelings f curisity are the same. Curisity can be mre r less pleasurable, mre r
less aggravating. S what accunts fr this variatin?
Once we recgnize that curisity has many faces, we can cnsider what affects the nature f ur
experience in a given case. The paper by Nrdewier des just this fr the dimensin f time. The
researchers ask: Is the experience f curisity mre likely t be psitive when we expect that ur
curisity will be satisfied sner rather than later?
T answer this questin, the researchers cnducted three studies with ver 200 participants. In
each study, the researchers first stimulated a state f curisity by telling peple that they wuld later
watch a vide that cntained “smething with different shades f brwn.” Half the peple were tld
they wuld watch the vide after a shrt delay f nly ne minute, and half were tld that there wuld
first be a 30-minute delay during which they wuld cmplete ther tasks.
The key finding was that while bth grups reprted equal levels f curisity, the curisity was
accmpanied by mre negative feelings fr thse participants facing a lng versus a shrt delay. The
finding shed light n the tw faces f curisity. When ur curisity will nt be satisfied anytime sn,
we fcus n nt knwing, n the infrmatin gap itself, which is largely sick. But when ur curisity
is abut t be satisfied, we fcus n almst knwing, r the expected settlement, which is a mre
psitive experience. On this view, the tw faces f curisity reflect different mixtures f nt knwing
    versus almst knwing.
    32. Why d peple have curisity?
    A. T get pleasure. B. T becme psitive.
    C. T get infrmatin. D.T becme hpeful.
    33. What des the underlined wrd "aggravating" in paragraph 2 mean?
    A.Jyful. B.Unpleasant. C.Exciting. D.Frightening.
34.Why did researchers cnduct the experiment?
    A. T satisfy the curisity f the public.
    B. T prve their previus assumptins.
    C. T recgnize the different faces f curisity.
    D. T study hw time affects curisity experience.
What is the main idea f the text?
    Curisity is a cmmn emtin.
    B. Curisity is a psitive mtivatr.
    C. Curisity can be a psitive r negative feeling.
Curisity can be satisfied by cmpleting tasks.
