    Analysis f the text:
    This passage is a narrative, which tells the prblems f building the Aswan Dam and hw t slve them with the help frm all f the wrld. The authr tells the prcess in the time rder. It can be divided int three parts. The First part is t raise the prblem; the secnd part tells the slutin t the prblems; and the last part is the result as well as the significance f this prject.
    Analysis f the students:
    The text is intended fr students frm senir 1, wh have learned sme wrds and expressins and grasped sme basic reading skills but can’t put them in practical use prperly. Maybe they can get the infrmatin they need, and they als have the ptential t use what they get t express their ideas fluently and crrectly.
    Design cncept:
    This perid is based n the tw keywrds: prblems & slutins.
    Activity Ⅰ--- pictures and questins t aruse the students’ interest in the tpic
    Activity Ⅱ--- fast-reading t get the main idea f each para
    Activity Ⅲ--- careful-reading t knw mre details abut the prject
    Activity Ⅳ--- summary t cnslidate the understanding f the text
    Activity Ⅴ--- discussin t cultivate their thinking ability and knw the significance f the prject.
    Activity Ⅵ--- hmewrk t review the text and prepare fr the next perid.
    Teaching aims & demands:

    Lead the students t get the needed infrmatin quickly and exactly

    Activity Ⅰ. Lead-in
    Shw sme pictures abut Egypt --- the Nile --- the Aswan Dam
    Analyse the title and find the key wrds --- prblems & slutins
    What the relatinship between the keywrds and the Aswan Dam? what’s the text abut?
    Purpse: t quickly guide the students interested in the tpic and aruse their curisity abut the text.
    Activity Ⅱ. Fast-reading
    Ask the students t read the text quickly and get the main idea f each paragraph, then finish the fllwing match.
    Reading skill: main idea--- the tpic sentence--- the first/last sentence
    Purpse: t lead the students t quickly have a general understanding f the whle text; guide them t use the tpic sentence t find the main idea f each paragraph.
    Activity Ⅲ. Careful-reading
    Task I : Read paragraphs 1&2, and find ut the prblems they faced.
    Task Ⅱ: read the paragraphs 3&4, and find hw they slve the prblems (get the infrmatin accrding t the time rder).

    Over the next 20 years The temples and cultural relics were being rescued
    In 1980 The prject was cmpleted
    Reading skill: make a timeline t knw the prcess. List the time and find ut what happened in that year. That is a timeline.
    Purpse: t knw the detailed prcess f the slutin. Enable the students t get useful infrmatin by listing a timeline.
    Task Ⅲ: Read the last paragraphs. What inspiratin can yu get frm the prject?

    Purpse: t encurage students think abut the lgical relatinship between paragraphs and try t find the missing part f the structure. Train their thinking ability.

    Fill in the blanks accrding t the text.
