Scientists at the website Hw Stuff Wrks cmpare hunger and cravings this way. Hunger is a fairly simple cnnectin between the stmach and the brain. They even call it simply “stmach hunger.” When ur stmachs bur x up all f the fd we have eaten, a hrmne(荷尔蒙) sends a message t ne part f the brain fr mre fd, which regulates ur mst basic bdy functins such as thirst, hunger and sleep. While staring ut f the windw during a flight; nt everyne will think carefully abut the questin why airplanes have runded windws rather than square nes.
Over the years, aerspace engineering has made huge steps in airplane technlgy, meaning planes can carry mre passengers and g faster. The planes have als changed shape t increase safety—including the windws. As cmmercial air travel tk ff in the mid-20th century, airline cmpanies began t fly at higher altitudes t lwer their cst—the air density(密度) is lwer up there, creating less drag(阻力) fr airplanes. Hwever, higher altitudes came with prblems, like the fact human beings can't really survive at 30, 000 feet. T make that pssible, the cabin was changed t a cylindrical(圆柱体) shape t supprt the pressure inside. The de Havilland Cmet came int fashin in the 1950s.With a clsed cabin, it was able t g higher and faster than ther aircraft.
But at first, plane builders left in the standard square windws and this expansin meant disaster. Where there's a crner, there's a weak spt. Windws, having fur crners, have fur ptential weak spts, making them likely t crash under stress—such as air pressure. By curving the windw, the stress that wuld eventually break the windw crner is distributed and the chance f it breaking is reduced. Runded shapes are als strnger and resist defrmatin(变形), and can thus survive the extreme differences in pressure between the inside and utside f the aircraft.
Frtunately, designers figured ut the lack f design pretty quickly. Nw we have nice, runded airplane windws that can resist the pressure f traveling altitude. It gives being able t gaze ut f yur windw t the wrld frm 35, 000 feet a whle new utlk, desn't it?
32. Why did airlines aim t fly at higher altitudes?
A. T save mney fr less drag.B. T help the plane t takeff.
C. T increase safety f the plane.D. T carry mre passengers and g faster.
33. What des the underlined wrds “de Havilland Cmet” in Paragraph 2 refer t?
A. An aircraft.B. A band.C. A planet.D. A design.
34. Which is the advantage f the runded windw?
A. It increases the air pressure.
B. It weakens the strength f air pressure.
C. It reduces the pssibility f breaking up.
D. It helps t survive the extreme weather.
35. Where des this text cme frm?
A. A newspaper n safe driving.B. A. science bk n flying.
C. A website n survival skills.D. A magazine n fashin design.

W: Hell, everyne. I’d like t intrduce the BBC tday. The British Bradcasting Cmpany was established in 1922. Fur years later, it changed its name t the British-Bradcasting Crpratin, better knwn as the BBC, and that is hw it has remained ever since. Frm the beginning the BBC was a public service radi, but als an independent peratr. Except during the war years. It has never been cntrlled by the gvernment. In the early days f BBC radi, there was nt a lt f news n the radi. There were music, drama, discussins and children's prgrams; but news was nt bradeast until after 7 pm, t avid cmpetitin with the newspapers!
Tday it has several natinal televisin channels, lts f radi channels and a grwing number f internatinal services. It als has a very ppular internet site, with news stries frm Britain and arund the wrld. In tmrrw's wrld, cmmunicatins and the media will becme mre and mre imprtant. With almst 100 years f experience, the BBC is determined t remain ne f the wrld's majr players in media.
