    In 1957, English scientist James Lvelck invented the Electrn Capture Detectr, an inexpensive, sensitive device used t help measure the spread f pisnus man-made cmpunds (化合物) in the envirnment. Hlding Amy’s hands, Jane cmfrted her: “Just think abut the birds.” They carried each cage up t the reptile huse. Sme birds beat their wings when they felt the wind. Jane spke gently t them, and they sn grew calmer. Amy watched in awe and tried t imitate her. Eventually, they finished relcating the birds.
