The Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) research team shws hw climate and land use tgether shape the diversity f pllinating insects. Based n mre than 3,200 identified pllinatr species frm 179 lcatins in frests, grasslands, farms and urban habitats, they find hmgenizatin (同质化) f pllinatr cmmunities in warmer climates. This suggests an verall lss f pllinatr diversity under future climates.
Insects such as bees, flies, beetles, butterflies and mths shw different respnses t warmer and dryer climates, but the general pattern indicates that landscapes with larger areas f frest maintain mre diverse pllinatr cmmunities. “One key finding therefre is that frest in the landscape can relieve the effects f climate warming t a certain extent,” said Cristina Ganuza, lead authr f the study.
“We cnclude that a large prprtin f frested land in the landscape culd serve as prtectin fr insects frm climate warming,” said Ganuza. “This is likely because frests and frest edges prvide largely natural cnditins which buffer (缓冲) extreme heat and drught cmpared t mre human-influenced habitats.”
Anther suggestin frm the researchers wuld be t lwer the air temperature in cities, fr example thrugh greening. “This culd lead t mre bee species being able t live in urban areas.” said Ganuza. In shrt, insects like the diversity. And flwering plants that are as diverse as pssible are extremely imprtant fr the small animals in all areas.

B. The lss f pllinatr diversity at present.
C. Hw climate and land use affect lcal plants.

30. What is the key factr that benefits pllinating insects?
A. Mre bees living in urban areas.
B. The diversity f flwering plants.

A fishing cmmunity in suthern Brazil has an unusual helper: wild dlphins. Stries f peple and dlphins wrking tgether t catch fish g back thusands f years. But strytellers have tld the human side f the stry. Until recently, it was impssible t knw hw dlphins have benefited frm the relatinship. Nw, underwater listening devices can fllw them underwater and suggest an answer.
In the castal city f Laguna, scientists have used drnes(无人机), underwater sund recrdings and ther tls t track dlphins. The scientists can see hw lcal peple and dlphins cperate and benefit frm each ther’s wrk. The mst successful humans and dlphins are skilled at reading each ther’s bdy language.
This study clearly shws that bth dlphins and humans are paying attentin t each ther’s behavir and that dlphins prvide a clue t when the nets shuld be thrwn. By wrking with the dlphins, the peple catch mre fish, and the dlphins are mre successful in hunting, t.
In Laguna, the water is cludy, s peple are unable t see the fish. But the dlphins can send ut sund waves and receive the sund waves reflected t them. Thus, they can find the fish. As the dlphins make the fish mve tward the cast, the peple run int the water hlding fish nets. They wait fr dlphins t sign exactly where fish are—the mst cmmn sign is what lcals call “a jump”, r a sudden deep dive.
The researchers used underwater listening devices, r micrphnes, t track the psitins f the dlphins and fish. Drnes recrded the actin frm abve. The mre clsely the peple timed thrwing their net t the dlphins’ signals, the mre likely they were t catch a large number f fish.
When the nets fall in the water, it startles the fish. They then break int smaller schls that are easier fr dlphins t hunt. The dlphins smetimes als take ne r tw fish frm the net.
Still, the researchers in Brazil think that the Laguna alliance maybe in danger. Pllutin threatens the dlphins and there are fewer lcal fisheries. Scientists hpe that mre attentin t the unusual cperatin can help drive supprt t prtect it.
32. Which can best describe the relatinship between the lcal peple and dlphins?
A. It is a win-win situatin.
B. Peple are a threat t dlphins.
C. Dlphins need help frm peple.
D. Peple use dlphins wisely.
33. Hw d the dlphins find the fish?
A. By seeing thrugh the cludy water.
B. By diving int the water suddenly.
C. By fllwing the fish smell clsely.
D. By sending ut and receiving sund waves.
34. What des the underlined wrd “startles” in paragraph 6mean?
A. Frightens.B. Catches.
C. Attracts.D. Gathers.
35. What d Brazilian researchers think f the traditinal fishing?
