Praising yur child may d mre harm than gd? Psychlgists say “empty” praise makes them unhappy.
Praising children with phrases such as “well dne, darling” may hurt their cnfidence, a leading psychlgist Stephen Grsz has warned. He says that praise such as “yu’re s clever” r “yu’re such an artist” culd als hinder their future perfrmance at schl. He says that such empty praise causes children t be unhappy as they may say they can’t live up t (不辜负) the false expectatins.
Instead, he advises parents and teachers t give praise less ften and use phrases that cngratulate children fr “trying really hard”.
