I ften wnder hw peple can get s angry, s deep in their wn belief that they becme deaf t anything that may differ frm their beliefs. I've ften been tld that I'm t pen-minded, listening t thers' viewpints s penly that they becme my wn. Maybe that cmes frm my practice f actively listening t thers. It means that I d really hear them instead f respnding nly ut f pliteness. Maybe it's because I was brught up by parents wh didn't necessarily speak t me abut respecting thers but mdeled it fr me thrugh their wn actins. They treated everyne equally, frm what I remember, never lking dwn upn thers because they were different frm us.
As I raise my daughters, I try my best t shw them lve and understanding in all situatins. When they misbehave, talk back, r break the rules, I'll lvingly analyze the reasns behind their behaviur. I'll be tlerant (宽容的) twards their differing pinins and becme pen and curius abut their ideas. And I'll be mindful f hw I treat and speak t thers, shwing equal respect t everyne.
My expectatin is that if I shw my daughters uncnditinal lve and acceptance, they'll learn t shw the same lve t thers. I hpe that they will nt see difference as a threat, but as a way t add richness t their very existence. It's beautiful t live in a wrld filled with s many differences.
S, as I write this, welcming my secnd daughter t my family, I'm fully aware that change begins with hw I act and what decisins I make. Every generatin carries its wn set f prblems. All we have cntrl ver is hw we respnd t thse prblems. This is what I will teach my girls: hw t cntrl their wn emtinal wrld; hw t hld nt lve as well as their beliefs and values; hw t remember that hate and anger are never the answer and that tlerance and lve will always take them further in life.
