New research added brain degradatin such as Alzheimer’s disease (阿尔茨海默氏病)t the grwing list f effects f fine particles (微粒). “Our study builds n the small but clear evidence indicating that lngterm PM2.5 expsure is assciated with an increased risk f wrsening brain health, even when PM2.5 cncentratins are well belw the current natinal standards,” said Xia Wu, a dctral student in Harvard.
Antnella Zanbetti, a cauthr f the study, said the new research results shwed that the current U. S. regulatins are inadequate t prtect the aging American ppulatin, highlighting the need fr stricter standards and plicies that help further reduce PM2.5 cncentratins and imprve air quality verall.
Wmen and urban ppulatins, particularly thse in the nrtheast, were particularly at risk, the research shwed.
