“Her path t being an authr was lng and tugh,” the Swedish Academy said. “And when she with great curage shws the suffering f the experience f class, describing shame r inability t see wh yu are, she has achieved smething admirable and lasting,”Anders Olssn, chairman f the Nbel Cmmittee fr Literature added.

The first hibernatin (冬眠) studies with human subjects culd be wrkable within a decade, a Eurpean Space Agency (ESA) researcher thinks. Such experiments wuld make it pssible fr a science-fictin-like apprach t lng-time space missins that wuld see astrnauts placed int prtective sleep fr weeks r mnths n their way t faraway destinatins.
Experiments have shwn that it’s pssible t cause hibernatin in therwise nn-hibernating animals, such as rats, and bring them safely back t life a few days later. “The rats receive a drug, a neurtransmitter substance (神经递质), and are brught int a dark space with reduced temperature,” Jurgen Bereiter-Hahn, a member f ESA’s hibernatin research grup said. “It wrks very nicely, but the prblem is that yu have t apply the drug repeatedly t maintain the state, which culd have damaging effects ver the lnger term.”
The hibernating astrnaut wuld nt nly save the agency cst fr water, fd and xygen. Astrnauts wuld, mst likely, wake up rather fit, withut suffering many f the negative side effects f lng-term bed rest r living in micrgravity. In fact, studies shw that the slwed dwn cells f a hibernating bdy dn’t get damaged by radiatin (辐射). Besides, research in animals suggests that bdies f hibernating astrnauts might lse much less bne and muscle mass than the bdies f thse awake in micrgravity. Upn arrival, these hibernatrs wuld thus be fit and ready t start challenging explratin almst straight away after regaining awareness.
These prtective qualities make hibernatin a pssibility nt just fr spaceflight, but als fr medicine. Just like astrnauts in micrgravity, patients in lng-term bed rest waste away quickly. Slwing life prcesses t a minimum wuld prvide what scientists call a “bridge”, a perid f time that wuld allw physicians t lk fr slutins withut racing against the clck. Althugh mst current hibernatin research is funded by space agencies, scientists think that the first human t be put int this state f hibernatin will mst likely be an ICU patient. Once the first human survives and benefits frm hibernatin, things will likely start mving frward much faster.
    28. Accrding t paragraph 1, what d the hibernatin studies mainly aim t d?
    A. Imprve sleep quality in space.B. Investigate hibernatin mystery.
    C. Prmte manned space explratin.D. Enrich science fictin writing methds.
    29. What is a challenge in the hibernatin experiments?
    A. Ensuring prper lighting.B. Bringing animals back t life.
    C. Maintaining lw temperature.D. Cntrlling pssible side effects.
    30. What advantage might hibernatin bring t astrnauts?
    A. It might help t keep physical fitness.
    B. It might increase lng-term bed rest.
    C. It might decrease radiatin cntact.
    D. It might raise mental awareness.
    31. What is the last paragraph mainly abut?
    A. The rle f physicians in mnitring hibernating patients.
    B. The pssible applicatin f hibernatin beynd spaceflight.
    C. The imprtance fr increasing funds fr hibernatin research.
    D. The need f human experiments in advancing hibernatin studies.

Fr centuries, humans have explred the Earth’s muntains, jungles and deserts. But despite cvering mre than 70% f the Earth’s surface, the cean is still a relative mystery. In fact, just ver 20% f the cean bed has been mapped. Getting a fuller picture wuld enable us t guide ships mre safely, build wind-farms and prtect cean species—all part f what’s knwn as the “blue ecnmy”, prjected t be wrth $3 trilling by 2030.
Underwater rbtic vehicles are helping gather that data quicker and mre cheaply than ever befre. But many f these vehicles depend n batteries which need t return t a bat r the shre t recharge, making it difficult t map mre remte (遥远的) parts f the sea.
A startup called Seatrec is rising t the challenge, funded by ceangrapher Yi Cha. Yi Cha develped technlgy t pwer cean rbts by taking advantage f “the naturally temperature difference” between clder and warmer parts f the sea, which in turn creates energy and pwers the rbt’s generatr (发电机). They get charged by the sea, s their lifetime will be almst limitless,” Cha said.
The pwer mdule (组件) can be fixed n existing data-gathering rbts which dive a kilmeter dwn t examine the chemistry and shape f the seabed, creating a map f the surrunding area. The rbt returns t the surface t send back its findings via satellite. A basic pwer mdule csts as much as $20,000. But the access t free, renewable energy and the ability t stay in the water lnger make data gathering up t five times cheaper in the lng run.
Started in 2017, the Seabed 2030 Prject has increased awareness abut the imprtance f the cean flr and given researchers and cmpanies a clear gal t wrk twards: map the entire seaflr by the end f this decade.
    32. What’s the purpse f the first paragraph?
    A. T uncver the mystery f the cean.
    B. T intrduce the idea f “blue ecnmy”.
    C. T stress the imprtance f seabed mapping.
    D. T explain the difficulty f explring the sea.
    33. What’s the disadvantage f the previus underwater rbtic vehicle?
    A. Its wrk efficiency is lw.
    B. It needs a land pwer statin.
    C. It has a data gathering prblem.
    D. Its battery limits the mapping area.
    34. What d we knw abut Seatrec prduct?
    A. It is a new kind f cean rbt.
    B. It adds cst t seabed mapping.
    C. It sends mapping data via satellite.
    D. It applies energy-renewable technlgy.
    35. What des this text mainly talk abut?
    A. Ocean rbts mapping further.
    B. A prject f explring the cean.
    C. A new way t prtect the cean bed.
    D. Underwater batteries becming pwerful.

Actually, mistakes are unavidable. N matter hw many mistakes we’ve made, we always have the chice t make it better. It is never t late t turn arund and make psitive changes.

    读后续写
My neighbr was the nly ne taking actin. Quickly pulling aside his miracle meal, my neighbr leaped up and guided the elderly man t share the seat. Numb with cld, the ld man didn’t expected the invitatin, mving clumsily. Hardly had he seated himself, my neighbr tenderly put his dwn jacket ver the lder man’s shulders, slipping his arms int sleeves. Finally, he said “Can yu help me ut?” pinting t the meal and placing the steaming cup f sup in the stranger’s hands. Seeing this, my head and heart stpped battling and I had my decisin.
Tears blurred my visin when I went t buy fd frm the fd curt. What my neighbur said exactly spke my mind. With regret, I felt bliged t d the same. Respectfully and cautiusly, I apprached them with steaming sup and sandwich. Peple arund cast an apprving smile in my directin. “Can yu help me ut?” I asked. “Why nt?” he added jkingly, “But nly if yu g halfway with me n that sandwich, which is t much fr a man my age.” It wasn’t until that day that I truly learned the meaning f sharing. I left the subway statin feeling warmer than I had ever thught pssible.
