In the search fr clean, renewable energy t meet ur ever-increasing needs, wind pwer might seem t be the perfect ptin. Arund the end f the 19th century, the inventin f the wind turbine (涡轮机) made it pssible t use wind t prduce electricity. Nw massive wind turbines, called wind farms, create and prvide clean electricity fr peple arund the wrld. Yet despite the advantages that wind energy ffers, challenges t using this renewable resurce can be fund.
The first advantage f wind pwer is that it truly is a renewable resurce. N matter hw much wind we use t prduce electricity, we will never deplete the supply, unlike ther resurces like cal r il. Hwever, wind des nt prvide a lasting supply f energy. Even the windiest places n Earth have perids f calm. That means that wind pwer isn’t practicable as a single surce f electricity. It can nly wrk with ther surces that supply pwer.
Wind pwer is a clean surce f energy, meaning it prduces electricity withut harming the physical envirnment. But that isn’t t say that wind pwer desn’t have an envirnmental impact. The large spinning blades (旋转刀片) f a wind turbine can be a disaster t birds and bats. The turbines als create nise pllutin, which can be trublesme t peple that live nearby.
Frtunately, wind turbines are particularly well suited fr areas far frm hmes and cities. The large twers that prvide the base fr the wind turbines dn’t take up a lt f space. Even large wind farms with lts f wind turbines can share land with farms and ranches (牧场).
With all f the challenges f wind pwer, it bviusly cannt be the nly slutin fr clean energy prductin. But the advantages f wind pwer prductin shuldn’t be frgtten in the search fr clean, renewable energy.

A diet high in fats and sugars actually affects the parts f the brain that are imprtant t memry and makes peple mre likely t desire fr unhealthful fd, says American psychlgist Terry Davidsn.
Davidsn didn’t start ut studying peple’s eating. Instead he was interested in learning abut the hippcampus(海马体), a part f the brain heavily invlved in memry. He nticed smething strange when he studied mice with hippcampal damage. They wuld g t pick up fd mre ften than the thers, but they wuld eat a little bit, then drp it.
Davidsn realized these mice didn’t knw they were full. He says smething similar may happen in human brains when peple eat a diet high in fat and sugar. If ur brain system is damaged by that diet, that makes it harder fr us t stp eating that diet.
The evidence is grwing. In anther study by Cambridge psychlgist Lucy Cheke, her researchers asked bese(肥胖的)and thin peple t d a memry task, a virtual treasure hunt. The subjects had t hide smething in a scene acrss varius cmputer sessins(会话框), then they were asked what they hid, where they hid it and in which sessin. The bese peple were 15-20 percent wrse than the thin nes in all aspects f the experiment.
Cheke says with the link between besity and the brain grwing as a field f research, we culd see mre ways f targeting besity. Fr example, if the prblem is that bese pepled diet degrades their memry, perhaps making pepled meals mre memrable wuld help them eat less bad stuff. Previus researches shwed that watching TV while eating will prbably make peple eat mre, get hungry in the afternn and eat mre at dinner. S Cheke suggests nt watching TV while eating. It is ne f the easy changes peple can make that dn’t invlve much self-cntrl, but that makes a great difference.
32. What inspired Davidsn’s new finding?
A. The grwing ppularity f unhealthy diet.
B. His frmer study n hippcampus.
C. His research n peple’s eating habits.
D. The strange behaviur f the studied mice.
33. What des the underlined wrd “that” in paragraph 3 refer t?
A. A sense f hunger.B. The similarity in brains.
C. The damage f brain.D. A diet high in fat and sugar.
34. What are the subjects in Cheke’s study required t d?
A. Memrize the treasure lcatins.
B. Answer questins n their hiding task.
C. Chat n varius cmputer sessins.
D. Cnduct an experiment with besity.
35. What is the last paragraph mainly abut?
A. Pssible appraches t targeting besity.
B. The research’s cntributin t brain science.
C. The link between besity and memry.
D. Changes f peple’s living habits.
