But the thery prved wrng in 1903 when a scientist named Archibald Weeks put bats against a bigger species f mths that lacked tails. He fund that the bats killed 66% f their targets. Luna mths, despite being smaller, were harder t catch. “Clearly, their tails prvided an anti-bat advantage,” Weeks bserved. “I think they were used t direct bats away frm the mths’ bdy.”
He was rughly right. Mre than a century later Jesse Barber frm Bise State University put luna mths against bats in a dark rm and filmed the hunting.
