A year ag, I sld my car and replaced it with an e-bike. Writing abut climate change, I knew I was ding smething gd fr the planet. Passenger vehicles are respnsible fr much f ur greenhuse-gas emissins(排放). An e-bike's small battery means less electricity, fewer emissins and fewer resurces. They are clearly better fr the planet than cars.
I had viewed replacing my car as an unwise chice. Living in Clrad, e-biking wuld mean freezing in the winter and sweating in the summer. In my pinin, it was nt ging t be fun.
Hwever, I quickly learned that, as the saying ges, there is n bad weather, nly bad gear. It was wearing glves, warm scks, and a ski jacket when riding that prevented me frm feeling cld. And even thugh it was 90 degrees utside, I didn't sweat, thanks t my bike's pedal-assist system. Hnestly smetimes I didn't even pedal(踩踏板),I just used the thrttle(油门), sat back, and enjyed my ride.
Then the savings caught my eye. Cnsidering car payments, insurance, and gas, a car-centered lifestyle is expensive. Accrding t American Autmbile Assciatin, wning and driving a new car in America csts $10,728 a year. My e-bike, by cmparisn, csts $2,000. After cunting in all csts, abut $50,000 will be saved ver the next five years.
The actual experience f riding t wrk has been equally surprising. Biking t wrk was nt unpleasant-it was truly enjyable. Nt nly did I arrive t wrk mre satisfied fr having spent the mrning in fresh air rather than traffic, but als I cycled my bike after a busy day at wrk and rde hme dwn a street cvered with changing fall leaves. I felt mre cnnected t the natural surrundings arund me.
Of curse, it's unrealistic t expect e-bikes t replace cars cmpletely. There's n need t sell yur car t reduce carbn emissins greatly. Making shrt trips n an e-bike instead f in a car wuld likely save mney, cut emissins, and imprve health and happiness.
    24. The reasn fr the authr t replace the car with an e-bike is
    A. t save mney. B. t build up strength.
    C. t explre the nature. D. t prtect the envirnment.
    25. What des the underlined wrd mean in paragraph 3?
    A. skill B. shelter C. kit D. system
    26. What can we knw abut e-bike?
    A. It csts higher than a car. B. It ffers a pleasant experience.
    C. It makes n difference t humans. D. It can keep riders warm in winter.
    27. What is the authr's attitude twards e-bike?
    A. Psitive. B. Cnfused. C. Traditinal. D. Curius.

It's funny, really: emtins are the very essence(本质) f being human, and yet we dn't devte much time t truly thinking abut them. Mst f us mistake the value f feelings r shy away frm thse with seemingly negative meanings. We dn't really cnsider what these feelings might be trying t tell us.
Emtins shw up in all parts f u lives, but smetimes expressing them can cme with a lt f shame. But when we refuse t face hw we truly feel, we risk nt recgnizing the signs that ur needs are nt being met.
This special editin is devted t deepening an all-arund understanding f ur emtinal experience, frm the pwerful ways jy can help fight against burnut(倦怠),t the inspiratin(启发)we can get frm cnnecting with ther generatins.
Many f us will have first-hand experience f wanting t hide away frm s-called negative emtins, but we want t stress the fact that there is n such thing! Frm ur clumnist Michelle Elman's persnal experience with survivr's guilt(内疚), t dealing with guilt-inspiring situatins, and reviewing ur ideas fanger, there shuld be n shame in whatever it is yu are feeling!
Every emtin has value and the ability t teach us smething. Recgnizing varieties f ur mds allws us t appreciate different sides f life, and truly value all parts f the human experience. Withut mments f jy, we culdn't experience and appreciate the beauty f the wrld; withut mments f sadness, we culdn't grasp the limitless value f lve and satisfactin.
S, wherever yu are n the emtinal stage, knw it wn't last frever, and there shuld be n shame r hiding. Allw yurself t feel it all.
As Ygi Berra s artfully put it: “Whatever yu d, yu shuld d it with feelings.”
At this special editin Happiful, creating a happier, healthier sciety is at the tp f ur missin. T find ut mre abut us, visit happiful.cm/pledges.
    28. What if we avid facing ur true feelings?
    A. We may meet with burnut.
    B. We may feel ashamed all the time.
    C. We may think abut negative emtins t much.
    D. We may fail t knw whether ur needs are being satisfied.

    A. secrets t ur experiences. B. understanding f burnut.
    C. strategies useful t ur life. D. ways t cmmunicate with thers.

    A. “I will never frgive myself." B. “I am s ashamed. I gt mad again.”
    C. “Yu are crying? What a fl!” D. “Yu are allwed t feel sad at this time.”
31.What is the purpse f this passage?
    A. T advertise a useful special editin. B. T help cure annying emtinal disease.
    C. T discuss hw t understand ur feelings. D. T cncentrate n the imprtance f emtin.
    D
Tday, there are mre humans n Earth than ever and nature is in freefall. In just 50 years, wildlife ppulatins have drpped n average by 69 percent. In the same perid, ur ppulatin has dubled, and demand fr nn-living and living material frm Earth has grwn six times. The biggest cntributrs t bidiversity(生物多样性)lss are habitat destructin and ver-develpment f species, bth driven by cmpletely unsustainable cnsumptin(不可持续的消耗)and caused by increasing human numbers. It is imprtant that we address this ver-cnsumptin, and that means thinking seriusly the influence ur species' ppulatin grwth is having n the breakdwn f the natural wrld.
December's bidiversity summit(峰会) in Canada didn't meet the challenges we face. Only tw f the 23 tpics are intended t address cnsumptin and speak f “greatly reducing vercnsumptin”. But the message is unclearly defined and unquantified(未被量化的),shrt f necessary facts fr any real applicatin. Given all the gals f the frmer bidiversity prtectin plan were missed, it is truly impssible t imagine that gvernments will gather the bravery t catch the chance.
In Nvember last year, ur ppulatin reached 8 bilin and there are predictins that it will reach 10.4 billin in the 2080s. The gal f the UN Cnventin n Bilgical Diversity is fr us t live “in harmny(和谐)with nature” by 2050. Let me make it clear: there is n dubt that the 1.7 billin mre peple predicted will make this greatly harder t achieve. Hwever much we try t reduce ur cnsumptin and ur influence, every plan and rule that mves us frward will have a gradually lwer influence.
And let me say it again: it isn't abut any particular humans amng thse billins, this is abut us as a species f resurce-cnsuming rganism.
We must nw ensure gvernments deal with their tasks with great effrts instead f any shrt-sighted,shrt-term slutins. Tlerating(忍受) the cruel idea that ecnmic grwth is the answer t ur prblems, and ttally ignring unsustainable ppulatin grwth, must end. Or we all die.
    32. What's the functin fr the first paragraph?
    A. T cnduct a survey. B. T explre the reasn.
    C. T intrduce the tpic. D. T discuss a prblem.
    33. What can we learn frm the summit in Canada?
    A. It is far frm cntenting the authr. B. It has pinted the way t ur future.
    C. It clears up many peple's cnfusin. D. It helps deal with the cnsumptin issues.
    34. Hw des the authr present his idea in paragraph 3?
    A. By giving examples. B. By shwing data.
    C. By making cmparisns. D. By defining a cncept.
    35. The authr advises us t
    A. Tlerate existing issues and wait.
    B. Put ppulatin grwth in secnd place.
    C. Expect ecnmic grwth t slve the prblem.
    D. Let gvernments adpt effective slutins wisely.
