One Alabama schl was extremely creative in encuraging students t read mre and t help imprve the schl district's literacy. They added an Inchy's Bkwrm Vending Machine, an actual vending machine that allws students t add a special cin and get a brand new bk.
Sixthgrade reading teacher Kristy White said students have been inspired t earn cins s they can get a new bk. Every classrm has cins, and students can earn them by imprving in their reading r math skills r exhibiting gd behavir.
Kristy said it nly takes ne cin t use the machine. Nice! What's even nicer is there are bks fr all grade levels and students even make suggestins fr titles they'd like t see available. Funding fr the vending machine came frm cmmunity supprt thrugh dnatins and grants.
Lucy Williamsn was the first student t use the machine. The sixthgrader said she can see the grwing excitement f her fellws and she lks frward t getting even mre bks. “This has sme different bks that the library desn't have and I'm able t keep the bk lnger because it's mine s I have mre time t read it,” Lucy said. She als shared that she rereads bks ften, s being able t chse a bk that she can take hme is a real plus.
Beynd reading, the vending machine has als encuraged students t behave better. And when a student gets a cin everyne celebrates the win. “The students are thrilled when they are the students wh get the cin that week. They cme dwn here and ther students cheer fr them,” Kristy said.
We're cheering fr them, t! This is such a unique way t mtivate students. Reading is s fundamental that it really serves as the fundatin fr all ther learning. This vending machine is just ne way t help students succeed.

Amy stuffed the wallet int her backpack and pulled Charlie alng by his elbw tward her huse. As they rushed tward Vicery Avenue, they talked excitedly abut what they culd d with the mneybuy gifts fr parents and friends, get new clthes, travel t the rainfrest in Csta Rica, and adpt a whale. It lked like all f their dreams wuld cme true. Fr the last blck, hwever, they didn't talk. Each began t suspect that the ther ne was silently adding t the list f things they culd buy.
They finally reached Amy's huse, but instead f ging inside, they walked arund the huse t the back prch. They pened the wallet and cunted the mney int piles f ten.
