次重音：在含有3个或更多音节的单词中，有的除了有主重音还有次重音，次重音表示 读该音节时要弱于重音节而强于其他音节。
复合词和词组重音重合词的重音一般落在第一个单词上。如：'hmewrk, 'classrm, 'paper-knife等。
单词重音的一般规律：a. 双音节词的重音多数在第1个音节上。 例如：'daily，'matter，'clever等。
b. 带a-、be-、en-、fr-、im-、in-、mis- 、 pre- 、pr- 、t- 、trans- 、un-等不可分的前缀的双音节词，重音常落在第2个音节上。例如： a'bve，be'lieve，fr'get，mis'take，pr'vide，t'day等。
c. 多音节词的重音多落在倒数第3个音节上。如： 'satisfy，mag'nificent，i'immediately等。d. 以-ic，–ial，-ian ，–in等后缀结尾的多音节词，重音落在倒数第2个音节上。 如： re'public，mu'sician等。
