    Step1 Warm-up
    T: Gd afternn, bys and girls. At the beginning f ur class, let’s learn an English sng “ Are yu sleeping”. Please lk at the screen and sing after the sng. (Play the flash twice and let students sing alud)
    Step2 Revisin
    T: Nw, let’s d sme speaking. I’ll ask ne f yu t cme t the frnt and act ut sme activities, and thers guess what she is ding, understand? Amy, cme here, please. (Ask the student t pretend t eat, read a bk, clean the blackbard…Guide the student t practice sme activities, then ask the class t ask and answer.)
    Shw sme pictures f activities n the screen, let Ss practice the sentence structure.
    T: Nw, class, lk at the screen please. What is he ding?
    S: He is reading a bk.
    T: This picture, Lifeng, yu tw, please. (Ask pairs f students t practice the target language.)
    Step3 Pairwrk 2c
    Ask Ss t read the sample cnversatin. Let Ss lk at the first grup f pictures, and ask them t guess what the peple are ding.
    T: Lk at this picture, please. This is Nancy. She is sitting at the desk. D yu knw what she is ding? Is she dancing, eating? Can yu guess?
    S: N, she isn’t. She is writing a letter.(shw the pictures) Nw, please pen yur bks, turn t page 26. Lk at Activity 2c. There are three pairs f pictures left, right? Match the pictures first. Then imitate the sample cnversatin, wrk in pairs. Students A lk at the first rw, and guess what the peple are ding. Students B lk at the secnd rw and answer the questins. Fr example, A: Is Mary writing? B lks at the picture and answers yes r n. Understand? OK, let’s begin…
    After that, ask three pairs t present t the class.
    Shw Ss anther tw pictures, ask Ss t guess what they are ding, and answer the questin.
    Step 4 Listening 2a & 2b
    T: S much fr speaking. D yu want t d sme listening? Lk at this picture, please. What are they ding? ( S: They’re talking n the phne.) Peter, read the tw questins, please…Gd, thank yu. Nw, I’ll play a recrding. Please listen and write yur answers n yur bks. (Play the recrding and ask Ss t fill in the answers, then shw the answers n the screen.)
    Ask Ss t listen t the cnversatin again and put the sentences in the crrect rder. Read the cnversatin tgether.

Picture2, 3…Nw, please match the cnversatins with the pictures, and ne picture has n cnversatin. Which picture is matched t Cnversatin A? (Check the answers.)     Ask Ss t lk at Picture 1, wrk in pairs and make a cnversatin.
    T: OK. Yu read very well. Nw lk at picture1 in 3a. pretend yu are the peple in this picture. Imitate Cnversatin A and B, make a cnversatin with yur partner. Wrk in pairs. (As they wrk, mve arund the classrm ffering help and answering questins as needed.)
    3. T: Nw, please make a cnversatin by yur wn. Then I’ll ask sme pairs t cme t the frnt and present t the class. (4 pairs)

    1. Cmpetitin --- Add –ing t the verbs.

    2. T: Yu knw, the present prgressive tense is different frm the simple present tense. Can yu tell me when we use this tense? (Nw, lk, listen…)Give sme examples.
    3. Put these Chinese sentences int English.
